IS duckworth-lewis that hard on can john dyson not count?

I don't know what page to put it, but we've just won by 1 run coz dyson can't do maths. But how hard is the duckworth lewis rule and how do they work it out?

It's very tricky to work out as it contains so many variables. Simply put, it works out a score or a target based on resources used and resources available (in this case resources being wickets and overs).

More information can be found on the wiki page, plus one or two worked examples - Duckworth-Lewis method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Think of Shaun Pollack in the world cup (2003 in South Africa?) where he made a hash of it and South Africa crashed out.

Not so much at stake in this game but still a cock up.

Re: IS duckworth-lewis that hard on can john dyson not count?

So is there an algebraic kind of formula for it?

South Africas mess up in the world cup years ago was worse, now that was one for the books. maybe geoff marsh thought they couldnt get the runs anyway, if he was batting they certainly wouldnt have, he striked at around 2 runs per 100 balls, he would open in ODI and bat through the innings and make his 100 in the 50th over, the most boring Australian batsmen ive seen, not real bright either by the look of things.

Yes. You used to have to sub in the wickets, overs, runs and then calculate it. Now it's more complicated and done on a computer.
