LBW rules

I hate when LBWs are not given when the point of impact is outside the off stump. Even when the batsman is clearly trying to prevent his wicket with his pads hes given not out. If the ball is heading towards the stumps then he should be out. Its another disadvantage for the bowlers. I think they should change it. What do you guys think?

Re: LBW rules

I agree the LBW rule is a bit dated. If the ball would of hit the stumps and the batsman has prevented it by using his pads it should be out no matter where it pitches and if hes playing a shot or not. If he misses the ball its his fault and he should be out! :D

Re: LBW rules

I'm not so sure about gving lbw's to the ball pitching outside the leg stump as that may encourage negative bowling. The outside the off stump rule though seems unfair to me.

Re: LBW rules

The game would be over pretty quick, if ever ball that was going to hit the stumps, where ever it pitched and then hits the pads was given out. Warne and Murali would be have 1000 wickets+, if the umpires could work that out, they seem to be having enough trouble with the basics.

Cricket is about entertainment and batsman hitting it everywhere (ala twenty/20) is fun. Bowlers need to work out new ways of getting wickets with their Captains. I've seen some amazing field placings in the England v Sri lanka tests. The way ahead, bowlers earn their keep, whilst the batsman get rewarded.

Re: LBW rules

yeah i think the game would be over pretty quick if they changed the rules now. maybe if it was like that already then the batsmen would have adjusted to it but changing it now will only cause confusion.
