Terrific contest between West & St Andrews. It's always great playing against a side who has been so successful yet remain humble in defeat and in victory. Good luck in the big one and fingers crossed Scotty can get through. Never seen a bowler bowl 37 overs on the trot and never lose his line and length.

A note to the comp....please sort out the pitch issues with the council. How can you have a "semi final" wicket not get cut or rolled on day one and then be prepared as well as i've ever seen a pitch get prepared on day 2. It is a disgrace...surely it is not that difficult. The clubs pay a substantial amount of money to the council each year and the least we ask for is for someone to spend 2hrs a week cutting and rolling a pitch for a finals game. Is it that difficult for someone in the comp to manage this process with the council?.

Well said captain, I think if the wickets were better prepared you would see an improvement in the cricket and cricketers

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Well mr first up ton,You must be a champion on the field.
I'd love to see you DROP by to my club and meet me in person.
When the bowler comes in i concentrate every time.
We all make mistakes and its a shame that mine came at an
inopportune time,Well for St mary's anyway..

I have respect for all my opposition and wish St Andrews all the best.
Whilst we are playing park cricket, people will fail to make runs, get wickets
or drop catches. If anyone wants to have a dig at me thats fine.
Most of you blokes are too scared to reveal yourselves behind this screen
you are looking at.

I am Jon Grant and i do play at St Mary's and i play the game to have fun
with 10 other blokes in which we all want to win. Unfortunately for all teams
bar one at the end of the season, every one loses their last game......

I have no problems with any Glenroy players and its a shame that some of
they're supporters can have a go at people when clearly they are not good enough
to be their themselves and obviously first up ton, good luck watching this game and
if you do spot me,feel free to drop over and have a scotch with me.

You have absolutely no idea what your talkig about.

Unless you know the full story its quite easy to sit in judgement.

Anyway, he is in the gf now, thats all that matters.

Also, St Marys stiff in the end, if only they made more runs then according to J Grant they would have won.

Glenroy on a roll and will be hard to toss

I think according to most people, defending 132 would be a hard task.Maybe if i had of made a duck instead(in which i have made a few this season) we would'nt of had the chance for my dropped catch!!!!!!!!![

Just an observation- why was Tuffers batting at 8. Was he injured or was it a measured tactic?

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Who is there suggestion for the MVP in the grand final?

I assume the game will be played at Pascoe vale's ground? Is that correct Bomber?

Back Again,
Just Like to say bad luck to St Marys and Very good Luck to St Andrews,
Once again if it wasnt for a cpl of individuals then it would be over and OUT!

Lets comment on the St Andrews list shall we, in order to see where they can overcome the Roy Boys keeping in mind that this is nothing personal but just a reflection of my views from what ive seen and read:

Chris: Nothing much to worry about, Another low score calling

Neville: The Duracell Rabbit, Just keeps going on and on. Will cause heaps of trouble if allowed to get his eye in

Dave: The elevator, Up & Down, Up & Down, Which way will he go this wkend?

Gavin: Proves me wrong every time, The opposition are hoping the Plague gets a hold of him to stop his assault on the ball. I have it on gd authority that this is it, win or lose, his gone

Scott: Lets hope his still around come Saturday.

Ryan: Makes the most of opportunities, needs to have a good innings though to get his confidence back

Jim: Needs to hit the bloody ball!!!

Matt: The Aspirin, Gives the opposition a headache when his batting

Mick: Can hang around to niggle the opposition and can get to them in the field

Paul: Gun, Gun, Gun, Wait for the offers to come at the end of the season

Darryl: Limited opportunities but deserves his spot.

There players in the lower grades must not be performing cos i suspect that if they were then a cpl of spots up in the 1's would be replaced.

Gd luck to all.

Seeing as my prevoius post was removed, all i will say is that is a dissapointing comment re chris.

i think Glenroy will win and Travis Stevens to win MVP. I think he is due for some big runs following on from a big score a few hits back.

A smokey for MVP could be Ryan Doige if he ges back to the form of earlier in the season.

Prediction..............

Glenroy to bat first, post about 180-200, St Andrews to be all out for 170 in reply.
Glenroy 2nd innigs to make 260+ and bat St Andrews out of the game. (weather permitting)

I dont think this will be a close one like last year. Glenroy wont bat as bad this match as in the semi.

I cant see Scotty bowling 37 straight, although that was a mighty effort.

Glenroy cant seem to lose at the moment and are in form. Parker will need runs, and all of the middle order got starts but couldnt capitalise.....they will this week.

Good luck to all

I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion...

What about finals experience do you think that counts for anything plus glenroy have a lot of young blokes which will get caught up in the moment.

All in all cricket can be a game of luck, win the toss and bowl on a wet deck and you win the match, I have heard that saying a hundred times this week and couldn't agree more.

As a bowler, bowling on a wet green deck is very rewarding and a one sided affair as generally only one team gets the full advantage of the demons in the pitch and launching hand grenades. As a batsman your fighting for survival, its dangerous and challenging and not many runs are scored as a result, I say to words to back that up.....Mitchell Johnson!

Johny

You don't have to explain to anyone that you did drop a catch, every player that has played cricket has dropped a catch ( yes zimmer even me ).
I have only played 1 year at St.Mary's and I can tell everyone for a fact J.Grant trains harder than any player at our club and to you idiots posting on here saying the catch cost St.Marys a place in the GF, get a life.
If you have played Cricket at a decent level you should no there are numerous reasons why you win and loose cricket matches. Yes the catch was dropped at a bad time but everytime we lost a wicket through a bad shot that also cost us, everytime we bowled a bad ball that went for four that also cost us.
To everyone having a go at a player over one dropped catch, ask yourself about your own Cricket carrer and what a star you are.
In all grow up idiots.

Well well well..... If it is not he old saying "Catches win Matches"Johny Grant how do you feel, i would've thought that you would be on here apologizing to the rest of your team mates for the disgraceful effort in trying to catch that ball!
Kingy why is it you get on here and offer all your garbage advice when you have produced stuff all yourself this season. I think you should take some of your advice to others and makes some runs next season. You are nothing but a never has been........ Tool!
Well i will have to eat some humble pie as we were also knocked out of the finals. Should never have lost making the runs we did.
Cant wait for next season....

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

Just an observation- why was Tuffers batting at 8. Was he injured or was it a measured tactic[/QUOTE]

It was all tactical.
Been very edgey after christmas and with 12 runs at an average of 4 i think that it worked well with me making 2 runs more than my average in the semi final. Remember a Captain will never allow himself to bat below John Cacchione. When i bat the only injury that can happen is the keeper breaking a finger when he is attempting to catch the ball i have played and missed at or one i have final got bat too.

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

As a side note John dont forget you were on the park whilst most of us watched and wished a season lost.

Only morons will put the loss in your court and as Kingy said you dont need to justify it.

This does count for a lot. Saying that so does form and Glenroy are certainly carrying great form into the game.

I actually think it will be close.

Saints to win the toss and Bat. I am thinking the track will actually not get that much rain. They have forecasted rain for the last 2 days we have hardly got any.

They will post a good score (230) - Gavin making the bulk of the runs (big game player) and bowl Roys out for 190 ( C Pipe making 50+).

Roys will regroup and bowl Saints out in second dig for 200 and they will make the runs late on the Sunday.

Parker to get runs in the second innings.

Smoke to take wickets in the first innings.

I think this final is going to be a ripper!

Pull your head in FFNB. It is a bit harsh for you to be so critical of a bloke who has dropped the catch that would have got his side into the Grand Final. Perhaps the ball was spinning 'massively' when it approached him. I can't think of any other reason why it would have ended up on the carpet...So unless you know the facts you can spare us your assessment...

Obviously you didn't get enough runs to get your side home ya' smart c**t...
