Not wrong there.

Where you playing that day?

I was playing B Turf that week, meant to play Ascott Vale but the pitch had been burnt the night before, so our game was canceled and we got to watch the display, aided dramatically by the super fast outfield i must admit.

Re: mmvca

No I missed that game last year as I was in Adelaide for the Ashes. I also am not playing this game, but went and watched for a while. Be interesting to see our response to be honest. We tend to go either great or ordinary. 320 on that ground is probably worth 250-260, so it is still a very good score, but it is also gettable if a couple of guys can get it going. I would rather have the 320 in the shed than having to chase it that's for sure!!!

Re: mmvca

West Coburg had no problems defending their score against BSU today.

Rolled them for 140 to allow for an early beer, wickets shared around.

Other results?

I heard Sunshine H got up over Paco and East Coburg accounted for Merlo.

Re: mmvca

i'm not involved with any clubs in this comp, but i must say that the wicket yesterday in the game between st marys and st andrews was terrible. it was one of the worst wickets i have seen in along time.the comp and local counsels need to do something about this because sooner or latter players will leave this comp because of the sub standard wickets.i know there are water restictions but my front yard would have played better then that wicket.what were the other wickets like? for the record st marys lost outright.

spot on there monty.

our wicket was the worst i have seen in this comp in over 10 yrs. scotty wernham was grubbing the ball in the 1st over of the day. there was a puff of dust almost every ball, aswell as the occasional ball shooting thru the pitch and almost knocking heads off.

we didnt help ourselves with some ordinary shots, but gee, if the wicket is like that for our next home game, we will almost certainly not go out and play. it was not only dangerous, but it wasnt a level playing field. we had no hope at all of scoring the runs needed.

something needs to be done. apart from last weeks rain, our pitch was not watered all week, and it looked like it.

very dissapointing.

ollie or redbacks, what was the pitch like at barkly st?

Re: mmvca

well is the coach from st marys gunna throw in the towel like his mate mcgann and leave a sinking ship or will he be sacked for a great start to the year or maybe east brunswick wil have you back or take up umpiring with your old man or follow him to rosebank and play in their 4ths. lol.

Our game was played at Morris reserve. I didn't get a good look at the wicket, but I didn't hear many bad reports about it, although the outfield will be absolutely cactus in the middle of summer there.

The wicket at Barkly St is fine, a bit greener than normal as our curator hasnt had alot of time to get the wicket up properly, so it will only get better.

Also, Barkly St A Turf have been awarded the points from their game with West Coburg. Apparently there was an ineligible player playing for the Redbacks??!! tsk tsk :)

Re: mmvca

So did Pascoe Vale, Sunshine Heights and Haig.
Did anyone hear about the brawl between Glenroy players and supporters on a group of Haig Supporters?

What a joke. They do this every year. When is the comp going to act on Glenroy?

Haven't heard about that one, but I'm not overly surprised. It only takes one or two dropkicks to start something..

Re: mmvca

i heard that Haig suporters were the main culprits, but it sounds like Glenroy players were involved too. Must of been bad for Haig not to show up this week!

What I hear was that a group of Haig Supporters were paying out the players on the ground including their own. When day 1 finished some of the Glenroy players and supporters didn't like it and took matters into there own hands.

The haig players were in the changing rooms and after that fight happened, the players and supporters had a go at the players who were not in the fight. My mum was there and was abused by the Glenroy supporters because my brother-in law plays at Haig. He is only 15.

I think saftey was the big issue.
Once again, I'm glad I'm not involved at either club.

Re: mmvca

Dont start pointing the fingure at the players at Glenroy. None of players involved in the game, where throwing punches. Players from both teams where trying to break things up! Players from both teams where talking after the incident, so cant see why there was going to be a problem about turning up on saturday!

Not pointing the finger mate. Just speaking of what I heard from a 52 year old lady that was there.
Like I said the problem was that Haig had allot of kids at the game and their parents witnessed threats made.
Would you let your kid play?
I personally think both clubs are at fault.
Nigsy, how are the feelings between the two clubs? Has it been sorted? What's the goss?

Does anyone know why St Andrews didn't get full points against St Mary's?

They lost the points because Mick Harvey hadnt been cleared from Moonee Valley, where he last played 2 yrs ago.

Re: mmvca

Fresh Prince, i played in the game and im very embarrassed about what happened. ive played cricket a club level for 10 years, and have never seen anything like it before. As far as the threats, i heard alot coming form haig, not just saying that cause i play at Glenroy. The one person from haig that was making all the threats was told to leave cause he had been drinking all afternoon, then things happened! i was quite suprised to that the players from haig where concerend for there saftey, as some of them stayed for a while after the incident. remember no players involved in the game where fighting!

I heard that it was because of kyle adams playing somewhere else in rnd 1, and that 1 club knew of it.

West Coburg have lost all thier points for the season because they have played Kyle Adams in every game.
