Summerfield was pretty much unplayable, bowled 38 overs straight and beat the bat on many occasions and I should know.:D Although he let himself down a bit on Saturday with his dummy spit, when given out.

Player of Round 5.

Nominees

Glesner 119 not out
Cleninning 5/60
C. Johnson 101
Warren Paker 88
Kunesevic 83
Garvin 86
Stevenson 6/ 48

My vote is P Glesner
I would give it johnson as it was his first a-grade 100 in all those years but i would have to say gleisner would be player of the year so far by a street what a dominant performance from him. he has helped his side become a reasonably competitive unit well done

maybe he retired so 1 week wonders like that non turning spinner andrews would get a game all year instead of just the week that he gets lucky(could of used that line in regards to another 3 letter word sport he doesnt play to often either, lol)
big call for the coach and captain this week at the socials, do they bring back in seniors card glendenning or leave the side unchanged as the blokes got the job done on the weekend winning outright.
hard to drop blokes from a team who does the right thing especially as campbell gives you that extra bowling option.
Plus heard it might be too sunny for seniors card to put his bright white skin out in, would be to hazardous for his health.
time will tell.it sounds like they have a few tough decisions to make. I heard that King didnt play for them either.

Re: mmvca

I'm tipping that there was more than just a dummy spit after the batting collapse....6 for 14 or something....typical Barkly St batting. Without watching or hearing about what happened, I'll bet that most of the collapse was due to very poor "shot" selection which seems to be endemic to the guys down there.
Crusty (Summerfield) has a heart as big as anyone I know, and he would literally run himself into the ground for his team. Yes he has a temper, but given the way some of the guys are putting in for him, I absolutely don't blame him for losing his cool. This sort of thing really gets to you as the captain, and I should know of course!! :)

dont play for socials just an observer who has been around the traps for a few years and like to watch a good game of cricket and noticed the bigger names that hav been around that club r missing and results are showing the value of the older players. wouldnt get me at socials even if i could play.

apd??

Re: mmvca

Tips for this round:

Haig v St Marys - Don't know where Haigs next points are coming from
West Cob v St Andrews - I still have my doubts about St Andrews
Glenroy v East Coburg - Both teams a little inconsistent. East Coburg because its a One Dayer
Socials v Sunshine Hts - Danger game for Socials. Sunshine should be able to slog and last for 40 overs
Barkly St v St Francis - St Francis' bowling looks very thin. Barky St have a new opening bat that hits the ball harder than anyone in the comp.
Merlo v Pascoe Vale - Batting has clicked.

Re: mmvca

In response to Road Dog, and why is that? You say you don't play the game, so how would you know about the Socials, the history of club and the players etc. You must listen to all the crap that's said around the traps, especially from sooky opposition clubs over the years.

Tough round before Xmas, could sort out some ladder positions

St Marys easily over Haig, too bad they'll miss outright points
West Cob to bounce back and defeat St Andrews who have a question mark
Glenroy easily over Easts.
Socials to keep on winning way as early flag favourites
St Francis to recover from poor last match. Barkly st rely too much on Summeerfield
Merlo to sneak in over Pacco. but should be a close one.

why do you say we'll be screwed!??? what do you know

Dealing with the NWCA over the years, and going on people who have played in that comp. I'm not talking about the "players" it's the people who run it that will screw us over! They will finally get their hands on something they have wanted for years, and when they do, WATCH OUT!!!!

Forget about what people are saying from the NWCA about it all happening next season, the merger has a long way to go before even the clubs vote on it. The By-Laws will be a major sticking point. A lot of the MMVCA's clubs were all for it originally, but some are now having second thoughts.
