need help

I have a problem with my SG High Score(english willow) bat. I have had it for 4 years but didnt used it last year since i bought a new one. Now in practice when the ball makes contact with the base the whole bat gives a shock like HELL. the enviroment i live in might have an affect on it since the humidity is around 40%. Originally it has given me some high quality shots. Please help what i should do.

P.S. There are no cracks anywhere on the bat.

Re: need help

As above. The wood is probably dry and could do with some oil, also check around the splice and where the handle meets the blade for cracks or splits.

If the blade is fine you may want to consider getting it re-handled.

Re: need help

yup as all of above! Dry bat? thin wood? maybe cracked or dry inside the bat where you can see?

Re: need help

i have a tape on the bat.i tried to remove it but it was partially removed. take a look at it. AND please suggest a way in which i can remove it so i can oil it.

Re: need help

The only way to get rid of that kind of tape is to use a rough grade paper on a belt sander, followed by a smoother grade paper.

Re: need help

Use a planer blade, sharp as poss. Wrap bandages round the two ends, and use that to shave away the tape. Then use a drum/belt sander to clean willow up.
