New Zealand have had an absolutely horrible time after the Twenty20 World Cup. They have won just one game of the last 8 they have played. I think Bangladesh might fancy their chances against New Zealand, but it would be a major upset if they pull off a win against them.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

yes it would have been, but sadly they got whollaped :(. i was really hoping they would win at least one, but there only chance is the dead rubber.

maybe they will have more chance in the tests

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

they had a good chance in the first odi but they blew it. it generally only 1 or 2 players that perform for them in one match and they fail to win matches because of that.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

how true, they need to start playing more as a team. if everybody contributed then they would win more games, 'simple' as that

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

speaking of playing as a team, mcullum was just brutal, 80 off 28. if i could do that just once in my life i will be quite happy! :D

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

McCullum could have scored the fastest 100 today had Bangladesh managed to score more runs. Thanks to his 28 ball 80, New Zealand overhauled Bangladesh's score in just 6 overs. It must be really disappointing for Bangladesh to perform like this, considering the progress they have made in the past two years. Great for New Zealand to return to winning ways after disappointing tours of South Africa and Australia.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Real shame they were chasing such a low total, he could have broken all kinds of records.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Though this is a low key tour, thought I'd post the latest.

As most will know, NZ won the first test with ease and appear to be on course to do the same in the 2nd, having dismissed Bangladesh for 143 in their first innings. Marting picking up 5 wickets.

As things stand they are 126 for 3 in their reply.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Not much interest in this series over here, well for me anyway, then again i only care about the my country.

Not sure if this series shows either side in a good light

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Same old Bangladesh, collapsing in the first innings. Bet they do better in the second when it is too late.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Maybe it's a case that by the second innings they are so far behind they have nothing to lose and the pressure's off. Hence, they tend to bat better and with more freedom.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Definatly a mental thing with them. Especially as they seem to do alright in ODIs when they bat second. Must be something to do with knowing what they need and or knowing how they need to pace an innings.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

It appears that out 2nd innings theory failed to hold water, as Bangladesh struggled to 51- at stumps. They're still 199 runs behind and I can't any other result than an innings victory for New Zealand but at least 50 runs.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

The only thing NZ and Bangers are good at is ODI's, and then only slightly. NZ should be right down next to Bangladesh in tests, they're both terrible

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

new zealand needs to improve a lot at test cricket. their batting order is fragile. they should have scored 600 against a bangladeshi bowling attack. bangladesh are much the same. they show signs of improvement in a match then disappoint with poor performances. they had a good opening partnership in the last match of 150 i think and then the rest of the team got out after adding just 100 more runs.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Consistency is a key thing for Bangladesh. I think they have the talent to perform, possibly even challenge some teams, but they just dont consistently perform. Their game against Australia sums that up quite well, when they sacrificed a winnable position, and ended up losing quite badly

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

NZ may not be to the same standard of test cricket as india and australia... but for a country with a population of under 4 million...i think we do pretty well. ( also considering cricket isnt our favoured sport.)
india has a population of 1 billion...250 times the population of us kiwi's ( are they 250 times better?? )
and for a country that thinks cricket is "god"...we dont burn manikins of umpires all because of some shady decisions...anyways

we will let the tour of england decide whether NZ can compete with the "best"...

please no more "smart" comments on New Zealand's competitiveness in international cricket.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

As you say they do well for a country of their size but they need more cricket in order to improve further.

It's no good having a year plus long break in-between tests.

A good series win over Bangladesh. The wins should get the confidence rolling.

Re: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

New Zealand do well when you consider their population, but they used to be a much better team so people expect more from them. The retirement of the likes of Astle, Cairns and MacMillan has had a bad impact on the team.
