Reminiscing
Just spent a while reading some threads from previous seasons and had a good laugh whilst reading them too.
Posters like Philhawk, Squiz, Drumm, eddie_vrv6, Panda Drive, Stamislav, Armageddon*, Copernicus, King_Brown, Guru, Bennycoff, Spell_Check Leg_Spinning_Sensation, South Swans and a whole range of others made this site the cracking fantasy competition that it was (If I have missed anyone I apologize). I feel that these are the sorts of characters/posters that we are missing. Some of the banter that went on was hilarious and I enjoyed going back and reading a few threads.
This is what this fantasy competition is missing at the moment as well as more active members. At the moment, the new influx of posters to the competition has only been moderately successful and we are still struggling a little bit for posting players. Posters like Emerald, Lyall and others have been good for the competition but a lot of these new recruits are nowhere to be seen.
The Crusaders post counts have gone up this season and the Figjams always have a lot of posting players. The Magpies and now the Kandy Lions don't seem to have the posting base that they once used to.
I really don't know why there is such a stunted interest in this competition. A few have left in the past because of other committments and others have departed becaue of stuff they didn't take a liking to. Even posters which have had a big interest in the past don't seem to be as active as they used to. I've also noticed that BigFooty's fantasy cricket competition is also on a downward turn. But ever since the end of the InterForum comp (which we won), this comp has gone into some sort of a recession.
I have tried pretty hard to inject posters into the competition and so far had only had infrequent success.
On the bright side, this season is going along better than season four (last season). I have noticed that this place is more active and that there is a lot more posting happening. What we need to do though is to build on those we have got here and get even more to the the fantasy board as well as other parts of the site. We've defintely done the hard work in order to get this competition back on track but we still need to work hard in order to increase interest.
This points to another recruitment drive and more promotion of the competition.
