Retirements/club Changes 2013/14

I am with absoluteglam (What kind of name is that by the way?) on his prediction with Diamo. I think they are streets ahead of other teams with their list and performaces. A very quality side.

I have heard the same thing about Sturge having a year off to focus on footy, and i find that a bit bizarre to be honest. Its not as if he is playing VFL or AFL, or even has the potential - as in, he is not an 18yo, so to "focus" on (local) footy is a bit strange. But each to their own, we all have our own priorities. No idea about Rogneda, but they would be two pretty big losses to have.

Diamond Creek are absolutely the benchmark club in the competition atm. Young list with plenty of upside, depth and a few stand out cricketers. They play really good two day 80 over cricket. Hard to see which of their rivals would have made up ground on them so far, probably the other way around. Hansen presumably to come back in too. They will cover Sturges if he takes the year off. I'm always skeptical of guys who take the year off to concentrate on Footy. For batsmen it doesn't make a lot of sense. Bowlers maybe...

Think of guys like Keays, Minney, Baker et al managed to fit in both.

Anyone watch that 'richmond the lost years' the other night? When they spoke about poor culture, eating their own, poor recruiting and sacking coaches too quickly, you could have substituted half a dozen dvca clubs into the title!! Also weirdest thing about arnberger was that he couldnt handle not having a sight screen or cars going past grounds while he batted! Aah henderson is also back i see. More fodda for the flog file when he types!

Also didn't appreciate the "lower class of cricketer" mouthing back at him either...

Maybe Sturgess doesn't want to get injured playing cricket that will set his footy back?

Never inured yourself whilst batting? I've broken a hand, had concussion and had cracked ribs.
You could argue I should hit the ball more, but me being a spud isn't the point. There's also the
risk of hurting yourself in the field. I can understand why someone would want to eliminate those
risks if they having a big crack at another sport (did i hear VFL?).

As a batsmen he's about as likely to get injured playing cricket as he is getting out of bed.

I agree with what you're saying about not wanting to get injured playing cricket if you have a good footy career going on, but no offense, he's playing Diamond Valley footy. Please!

As I said, I've been led to believe he is doing a VFL preseason.
Realistically though, if that's what he wants out of his sport, so be it and good on him.

Well don't gob off all day 1, bat like a moo tee-ing off and sook up when you cop it back... Maybe that's just my LECC arrogance though :D

In all fairness to him, there are a few cricketers, past and present, that would also fall into this category.

It's got nothing to do with what day it is, pretty simple. If you're going to give it, expect to cop it back. Like everyone, I could easily name a few that can't take it and sook like a girl but are happy to be lippy.

Ok well then he shouldn't lip off at us peasants and sook up when he gets it...
Better?

Who we discussing here opener? One of the deans, stu wright (who looks more like chunk from the goonies every time i see him) jamie davis, brent bailey or stewart? You said a top 6 batter didnt you? What particularly was their gripe when you last played?

Haha I was replying about Arnberger punter. I have no gripes with mernda, apart from bakes making me look like I've never held a bat.

Don't be too disheartened. Fair to say that he's done that to a few people of the years (happy to put my hand up). He too, was a very good talker and not a great listener. :D

bakes a good talker, nah really! He once told me he hadn't seen his kids for a while and because i was so fat had i eaten them? Then proceeded to bowl me an outswinger that i nicked that started where the square leg umpire stood. as well as a good talker, fletch would probably say he's got a good right hand as well..

Anyone got any decent news?

Any player rumours?

Who has started training?

I've heard Bundoora United have started, with strong numbers, might be the year they finally have some consistency. A few recruits and some strong authority would help.

The Panthers kick off tonight, with a very busy preseason schedule.
