SECA 24/25

Looking over some of the socials of clubs saw Kingston Heath signed up a former Sri Lankan U19s player Lakshina “Laki” Rodrigo. Quote from their post

"Lakshina had an outstanding college cricket record in Sri Lanka scoring mountains of runs including two consecutive seasons of 1,000 runs. He has also played first class cricket, represented the Sri Lankan U/19 National cricket team in 2016-17 and since then he has won regular titles as captain of a number of company and representative teams"

Will be interesting to watch how he goes this season. Could be what the burras need to crack that longy finals spot.

Omega have posted up about 2 new recruits that seems decent. Top order batter Shubham Aragwal coming from top grade in the Box Hill reporter league and Ash Becker bowler from Premier Richmond CC. Could be a handful in wooly.

Cluden announcing Justin Lampard as playing coach this season. We've all seen his destructive batting he can do. Will he be able to lead his troops to a long searched for wooly premiership?

Mackie announced a new playing coach in Sam Frawley who comes from Seaford CC premiership and stints at Frankston Peninsula premier cricket, pines, langwarrin and pearcedale cc. Can he get the Mackie machine back to Longy this season?

Hearing stuff that the league will be introducing a stand alone One Day comp. From what I've learned that clubs can nominate a 2nds or 3rds team to participate in it and if they do that team can't play the grade divisions. I'm not sure if thats true or not.

Anyone have any thoughts on it? I get the idea to help clubs with numbers each week and 2day games are hard to get commitment from the lower grades but I feel clubs top end will suffer with kids not learning how to be the better patience cricketer and win shields which are done in 2 day games.

Quiney and Pullen Shield fixtures dropped today. Also Hearing the loss of Noel Pullen shield named after died the other day. One of the great umpires I've had.

Full grades of fixtures finally released today, anyone have any thoughts on it? I don't like how the lower grades are having to wait another week before round 1. Unless theres something I'm missing why it seems dumb.
