South Africa in Australia

Irrelevant, you said "a team of kids" which is incorrect.

Most of the players have years of domestic and county experience and the very least.

The only players of real inexperience would be Siddle and Krejza. Krejza proved he is up to the standard in India and Siddle was fantastic last season domestically.
Who seriously gives a shit?
Siddle, Krejza, haddin, Katich, Johnson are the newbies mate. Only one of them has had a full year in the team.... None of which have played against South Africa.....

My point is that Australia aren't streets ahead of the opposition.
Yes we are sitting on top of the test ladder but we do have South Africa breathing down our necks who are in second. England is in third and India are in 4th.
We are miles away from NZ, Bangladesh, West Indies and the rest of them.

The Kat & Pup will save the day! NSW to the rescue again! ;)

I hope they can do it, even though I hate NSW.

Poor ol' Vics never get a chance. Siddle wouldn't have played if Clark the New South Welshman hadn't been injured.

Katich- a newbie?

He's been playing test cricket for 7 years now!

Exactly. The rest, like Jolldo said, have all been solid domestic players for years. And South Africa isn't all that experienced either. Amla, Steyn and Morkel are all in their 20's and have played about 30 matches from memory. That's not mountains of experience. In the end I think it'll just be a good battle to see who is better. We both have great sides and great domestic talent.

You, otherwise you wouldn't be arguing about it.

Siddle, Krejza, haddin, Katich, Johnson are the newbies mate.

Katich a newbie? You've got to be kidding me. He's played 32 tests.

Only one of them has had a full year in the team.... None of which have played against South Africa.....

So what? None of them have played against America, that doesn't mean they're not good enough to.

My point is that Australia aren't streets ahead of the opposition.

No one made that claim.

Re: South Africa in Australia

Johnson could hardly be considered a newbie and its South Africa who have the test debutant playing today...

And the following Sth Africans have never played against Australia

Steyn, Morkel, Duminy, Amla

Re: South Africa in Australia

Australia 3/74 at Lunch. Session one goes to South Africa however it could have been alot worse for Australia if it wasn't for Clarke and Katich.

Re: South Africa in Australia

Session to South Africa, but good fightback from Katich and Clarke.

Should be looking to get back to even par in the next session, hopefully go through without the loss of a wicket.

Re: South Africa in Australia

The first test of a series is always interesting as we don't really know what a par score or a match winning score is going to be yet. I remember after the Aussies 1st innings against the Kiwis people thought it was all over, but we haven't seen the Saffies bat yet.

If they are in form we might be in trouble with a score around 300, but I'll wait to see what they can produce first! ;)

True that.

Re: South Africa in Australia

This Harris bloke looks like a decent bowler. Australia starting to get settled at 3 for 146, SA really need a wicket soon.

He's economical if nothing.

Re: South Africa in Australia

And they get the breakthrough, Katich out to an ordinary LBW decision. Symmonds will be under some pressure here.

Re: South Africa in Australia

************, on his way to a century too. I don't think Symonds will last either.

He hasn't played against South Africa.

So he is a newbie in that sense.

Re: South Africa in Australia

SAf full credit to em.

This is a wonderful batting track and they have made our batsmen look second rate.

Will be lucky to notch 250+ unless Brad and Andrew stick around...
