Sri Lanka Triangular Series

Very nice little series this, the way ODI cricket should be played. Three countries, a points table and one final determining the overall winner. All have been pretty highly attended too.

At this point in the series pretty much anybody can still win. And it's highly possible it gets close enough for net run rates to be involved because no side has been able to show dominance over another yet, it has swayed back and forth.

Games haven't been overly exciting, but Sri Lankan pitches never really do help that side of things. Watching New Zealand smash India first up was a bit of gag but then Sri Lanka beat New Zealand, then India beat Sri Lanka.

I've been following the Lankans through this series and they have been playing pretty well. There's still a bit of a mix upon the middle order and who really is and who should be their front line spinner after Murali's departure, but compared to the other two sides is looking the better unit.

Plus I hate the look of a New Zealand unit without B.McCullum. But then again a player who quits Tests and ODIs in his prime for the for the IPL... he isn't really worth playing.

Sri Lanka are just walking through India here, India are 72/5 off 23 overs with Kulasekera showing why he's a world class bowler at times, Perrera and Matthews chipping in as well. India don't really have anybody left, if they can double this score they've done very well.

Well, well, well the crowd isn't getting their money's worth today. India 80/7.

Perera is continuing and is now 5 1 13 4 and was also on a hat trick.

Sri Lanka go through to the finals.

EDIT: Make that 8 wickets down... Malinga in for the kill.

Perera with a 5 fa as well.

Sri Lanka on fire. Bonus point and a spot in the final coming up.

India are going to have to beat New Zealand to stay in the tournament.

Big win, Perera man of the match understandably. That team is looking very good, especially when your rookie only-sometimes-selected bowler comes in a gets a 5fa as well.

New Zealand and India are in a must win match on Wednesday to progress through to the final.

Is it just me or do games on the subcontinent and surrounding areas make for the most boring games? This series has been reasonably interesting on paper, but I have watched the last couple and they've been completely one-sided contests, and not one-sided as in one-teamed but either batting or bowling.

A big win for India here in a bowling dominated match. If it weren't for Sehwag being seemingly immune to any and all bowling, the Indian's would have lost this.

Anyway, the final sees two sides that have never played each other in the past 10 years. Or at least you'd think so the way they have been recently. Sri Lanka vs India. Again.

28 of August sees them battle it out for the right of most boring series since the Test series a month ago.
