Surfing

Woooooooooot. Had a 2 hour surfing lesson with school today. It was great, apart from walking in wetsuits and having to sprint along the beach in booties, which are basically flat waterproof boots.

Was great fun, I stood up a couple of times and I did the coffin, where you lie on your board back first, and the instructor holds your board, catches the wave for you and you lie there on your board catching the wave, it was awesome fun.

And also the wetsuits area are hard as to take off and your legs get a massive workout trudging along in the water in the booties to get our to where you catch the wave.

Have any of you surfed before? I think I recall Dave mentioning something about surfing and him paddling out to see a shark or something?

Oh man do I surf! Is the Pope Catholic!!! Yeah I surf, I'm off for a couple of weeks in July and I'm planning a couple of weeks or maybe three in Portugal in 2009. I love it and I still ride a short board 5'10" fish thruster with channels at the back. Actually it comes from Australia a place called Forster in NSW and I've had it since 1987! I'll dig out a picture of me at it.

I wish there was more photo's but it's difficult persuading people to get up at 4am in the morning and follow you down to the beach to stand there waiting for a chance to get a good shot. This one was back in 1988 and was at 7am.
