No you don't.
But Frodo pretends to be a master tactician (and considering I'm the opposing captain) he'll keep me waiting as long as possible.
It helps me select my team once I know what pitch we're going to be playing on.
As I said, I could select our lineup now (or before the pitch is even selected) but then Frodo would pick the pitch to negate the team I've chosen.
Therefore (9/10 times) the home captain will select a pitch and name his side at the same time and then the away captain will name the side (balance wise) he thinks can win.

You don't have to but the makeup of the side a captain picks will depend on the pitch.
For example if you have a bowlers wicket you might want to play and extra batsman whereas on a batters wicket an extra bowler might be a good idea.

We're definitely a better cricket side.
Bowling pitch should make for a great game. If we were the home team, I would have chosen a batting pitch though.
And pile on 750 and bowl them out twice. Pretty simple in my mind, we'll win this easily.

I'm just waiting for Frodo (who is being a pain in the ass about it), he could have named his side earlier when he named his pitch, but he didn't. If he wants to play 'tactical mind-games', I can play them too.
