The First Annual Victoria Cup

Welcome one and all to the new BCFCL Pre-Season competition - the Victoria Cup! This double-elimination tournament will allow the teams to get some overs under their belt before the Premiership season begins, and allows us to enjoy some great weather around the Victoria Day holiday weekend here in Canada. The Toronto CSCC and King City Cricket Ground will play host to this wonderful tournament, which will hopefully become a fixture on the BCFCL calendar.

Method of Play
The method of play will be a double elimination tournament. That is to say, a team must lose 2 matches to be eliminated from contention for the Cup. The 1st round fixtures will be randomly drawn, and the rest of the tournament will follow the bracket as seen here:

The matches will be played as Pro40 matches. In the event of any tie, a TwentyFive25 match will be played immediately following the first match, and if that match is tied a bowl-off will occur to decide a winner.

Match Schedule
May 18
Match 1-1 - South Aussie Figjams v Caribbean Crusaders @ King City CG
Match 1-2 - Indomitable Magpies v Kandy Lions @ Toronto CSCC
May 19
Match 2-1 - South Aussie Figjams v Indomitable Magpies @ King City CG
Match 2-2 - Caribbean Crusaders v Kandy Lions @ Toronto CSCC
May 20
Match 3-1 - Indomitable Magpies v Caribbean Crusaders @ Toronto CSCC
May 21
Match 4-1 (Finals) - South Aussie Figjams v Indomitable Magpies @ Toronto CSCC
May 22
Match 5-1 (2nd Final (if nec)) - Winner of 3-1 v Winner of 2-1 @ Toronto CSCC

Re: The First Annual Victoria Cup

Looks pretty good, Wilbix. I don't really understand how it works but I'm sure we'll all learn as the tournament progresses.

Re: The First Annual Victoria Cup

Yep I'll walk you through it as we go :D

The easiest way to think about it is: you lose twice, and you're gone.

Yeah, that part is clear. So, I suppose the losers' draw acts as part of a repechage for them to get back into the competition?

Good work mate. Now, time to shine my trusty bat again. It's gonna be along season, and i plan to dominate for every second of it.

Re: The First Annual Victoria Cup

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the draw for the First Annual Victoria Cup! We are here in the ballroom of the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club where we will find out who will play who in the first round of the tournament, as well as where the matches will be played

Pitch Report
The pitches are looking very different from one another. At King City, there has been rain for the last three days, and the pitch is not nearly as "done" as it should be. As such, it is green and will likely play as a BOWLER'S pitch at least in the early matches. The Toronto CSCC pitch has been better prepared for play, and at present is looking a NORMAL pitch.

The draw will be conducted by Mr. Rand Domness of Deloitte and Touche, CPA. The balls are in the pot, and we are ready to go.

The first ball out of the pot, playing in Match 1-1 at King City: the South Aussie Figjams!
Their opponents in round one will be: the Caribbean Crusaders!

The third ball out, playing in match 1-2 right here at Toronto: the Indomitable Magpies!
And obviously, they will be pitted against: the Kandy Lions!

That concludes the draw, it's time for the matches!

Pitch Report for Round 2
The weather is still lovely here in Toronto, and as such the pitches are improving. The pitch at King City CG is drying out nicely, with just a tinge of green left in the surface. As such, it will play as a NORMAL pitch for tomorrow's match. At the Toronto CSCC, the pitch fairly resembles Wilson Avenue which runs past the parking lot. It is flat, it is hard, it is a Batters' Pitch.

Pitch Report for Round 3
Well, another sunny day has led to the cracks starting to open up a bit. Simple as that - it's a BOWLER'S Pitch.
