Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

For picks 8 and 9, we changed the format a little. Everyone got to pick at once. Plus, I made A•|dan's picks for him. If I'd have known his first 6 picks would be so good, I'd have let his picks wait longer.

Part 4: picks 7, 8, and 9

wilbix - Kumble: 3 wickets = 60 points bad pick
Collingwood: 270 runs + 5 wickets = 370 points good pick!
Sehwag: 164 runs + 2 wickets = 204 points fair pick

SouthSwans - Tharanga: 219 runs fair pick
S Watson: 142 runs + 2 wickets - 182 points
Sarwan: 372 runs + 1 wicket = 392 points Good pick!!

marlymimks - Hemp: 90 runs bad pick
Hoffmann: 25 runs + 1 wicket = 45 points bad pick
J Taylor: 25 runs + 4 wickets = 105 points

A•|dan - Jayawardene: 414 runs Better than any of the picks I made for myself!
Prince: 107 runs
Dw Smith: 49 runs + 4 wickets = 129 points

Ljp86 - Boucher: 177 runs
Z Khan: 16 runs + 5 wickets = 116 points
Styris: 462 runs + 9 wickets = 642 points THE STAR OF THE TOURNAMENT!!!!

cleazer - Bracken: 14 wickets = 280 points good pick
Gibbs: 303 runs good pick
Dhoni: 29 runs bad pick

Younginator - Hall: 25 runs + 14 wickets = 305 points good pick
Malinga: 2 runs + 15 wickets = 302 points good pick
M Johnson: 0 points bad pick

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Okay folks, raise your hand if you knew that Scott Styris was the star of the tournament so far (using the points system in this game) before reading that last post.

Personally, I had no clue until I started looking up the numbers a few hours ago.

Scott Styris!!

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

standings after the first 9 picks

1. Ljp86 - 1769 + Boucher (177) + Zaheer (116) + Styris (642) = 2704

2. A•|dan - 1835 + Jayawardene (414) + Prince (107) + D Smith (129) = 2485

3. SouthSwans - 1484 + Tharanga (219) + Watson (182) + Sarwan (392) = 2277

4. Younginator - 1612 + Hall (305) + Malinga (302) + Johnson (0) = 2219

5. cleazer - 1540 + Bracken (280) + Gibbs (303) + Dhoni (29) = 2152

6. wilbix - 1426 + Kumble (60) + Collingwood (370) + Sehwag (204) = 2060

7. marlyminks - 1111 + Hemp (90) + Hoffmann (45) + Taylor (105) = 1351

Ljp86 rockets into the lead thinks to Scott Styris! SouthSwans moves up too, thanks to 3 good picks.

Marlyminks should get some credit for at least trying to stick with the Associates.

And I hope you guys don't mind me breaking up the standings like this. It would have been fun to track on a day-to-day basis, but in the absence of that, at least it's still fun to see how the standings are changed as each new batch of picks is added.

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Picks 10, 11, and 12 were limited to Australia, Canada, Kenya, and Scotland. And once again, I made A•|dan's picks for him.

Part 5: picks 10, 11, and 12

wilbix - Bhatti: 11 runs + 1 wicket = 31 points bad pick
Dhaniram: 81 runs + 4 wickets = 161 points good pick
Varaiya: 5 runs + 1 wicket = 25 points bad pick

SouthSwans - Shah: 81 runs
Ongondo: 7 runs + 4 wickets = 87 runs
Bagai: 62 runs

marlyminks - Davison: 81 runs + 2 wickets = 121 points good pick
Haq: 35 runs + 4 wickets = 115 points good pick
Billcliff: 104 runs good pick

A•|dan - Watts: 33 runs weak pick
Samad: 60 runs + 2 wickets = 100 points good pick
Kamande: 29 runs + 2 wickets = 69 points

Ljp86 - Symonds: 148 runs + 2 wickets = 188 points good pick
C Obuya: 31 runs bad pick
Ouma: 75 runs

cleazer - Barnett: 88 runs
Odoyo: 46 runs + 4 wickets = 126 points good pick
R Watson: 53 runs

Younginator - Hamilton: 11 runs bad pick
Osinde: 1 run bad pick
Haddin: 0 points bad pick

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Marlyminks was the star of that round, with all 3 picks scoring over 100 points. And Ljp86 took a risk that paid off for him, as Symonds has been healthy for most of the tournament. On the other hand, Younginator, yikes!

standings after the first 12 picks

1. Ljp86 - 2704 + Symonds (188) + Obuya (31) + Ouma (75) = 2998

2. A•|dan - 2485 + Watts (33) + Samad (100) + Kamande (69) = 2687

3. SouthSwans - 2277 + Shah (81) + Ongondo (87) + Bagai (62) = 2507

4. cleazer - 2152 + Barnett (88) + Odoyo (126) + Watson (53) = 2419

5. wilbix - 2060 + Bhatti (31) + Dhaniram (161) + Varaiya (25) = 2277

6. Younginator - 2219 + Hamilton (11) + Osinde (1) + Haddin (0) = 2231

7. marlyminks - 1351 + Davison (121) + Haq (115) + Billcliff (104) = 1691

Ljp86 strengthens his lead! A•|dan and SouthSwans hold on to the next 2 spots. But cleazer and wilbix both pass Younginator, who drops down to 6th! And if Younginator keeps faltering, can marlyminks keep closing the gap?

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Picks 13, 14, and 15 were limited to Bermuda, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Zimbabwe. Everyone made their own picks this round. (well, almost)

Part 6: the final 3 picks

wilbix - Matsikenyeri: 107 runs good pick
Bray: 212 runs great pick
Chibhabha: 27 runs

SouthSwans - Atapattu: 0 points bad pick
B Taylor: 87 runs
Silva: 308 runs Great pick!

marlyminks - Cann: 44 runs + 1 wicket = 64 points
J Tucker: 13 runs bad pick
Utseya: 5 runs bad pick

A•|dan - Hurdle: 6 runs + 3 wickets = 66 points
Bandara: 17 runs + 1 wicket = 37 points
Outerbridge: 9 runs

Ljp86 - Arnold: 103 runs + 3 wickets = 163 points good pick
Mpofu: 1 run + 4 wickets = 81 points
N O'Brien: 216 runs great pick

cleazer - Morgan: 91 runs
Porterfield: 172 runs good pick
Langford-Smith: 67 runs + 7 wickets = 207 points great pick

Younginator - Dilshan: 173 runs + 3 wickets = 233 points great pick
Johnston: 129 runs + 8 wickets = 289 points great pick
Maharoof: 39 runs + 9 wickets = 219 points great pick

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Wow, Younginator really bounced back after his 3 previous stinkers.

standings after all 15 picks

1. Ljp86 - 2998 + Arnold (163) + Mpofu (81) + O'Brien (216) = 3458

2. Younginator - 2231 + Dilshan (233) + Johnston (289) + Maharoof (219) = 2972

3. SouthSwans - 2507 + Atapattu (0) + Taylor (87) + Silva (308) = 2902

4. cleazer - 2419 + Morgan (91) + Porterfield (172) + Langford-Smith (207) = 2889

5. A•|dan - 2687 + Hurdle (66) + Bandara (37) + Outerbridge (9) = 2799

6. wilbix - 2277 + Matsikenyeri (107) + Bray (212) + Chibhabha (27) = 2623

7. marlyminks - 1691 + Cann (64) + Tucker (13) + Utseya (5) = 1773

Younginator jumped all the way from 6th up to 2nd!! Ljp86's lead is probably too much for him to overcome though. It's still quite a tight race between 2nd and 6th. With only 4 matches left, one or two performances could make the difference between 2nd and 3rd place.

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

and if anyone cares, here are the players who may possibly be involved in the final group stage game between West Indies and England:

wilbix - Flintoff, Lara, Vaughan, Collingwood
SouthSwans - Sarwan
marlyminks - Taylor
A•|dan - Pietersen, Dwayne Smith
cleazer - Gayle, Chanderpaul

So don't count out wilbix yet, just because he's down in 6th. He could make up a bit of ground on the players in front of him. Personally, I'd love to see Gayle finally get a century tomorrow. :D

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

And if anyone wonders, the top run-scorers not drafted:
Fleming - 352 runs
Fulton - 251 runs
Ashraful - 216 runs
Bell - 211 runs
McMillan - 203 runs (+ 3 wickets for 263 points)
Nazir - 190 runs
Tamim Iqbal - 172 runs
K O'Brien - 170 runs (+ 3 wickets for 230 points)
Samuels - 165 runs (+ 1 wicket for 185 points)
Nixon - 155 runs
Joyce - 152 runs
Bopara - 139 runs (+ 2 wickets for 179 points)
Yuvraj - 136 runs
Mushfiqur Rahim - 131 runs

top wicket-takers not drafted:
Powell - 14 wickets (+ 56 runs for 336 points)
Abdur Razzak - 13 wickets (+ 29 runs for 289 points)
Langeveldt - 13 wickets (+ 10 runs for 270 points)
Rankin - 12 wickets (+ 15 runs for 255 points)
Bravo - 11 wickets (+ 116 runs for 336 points)
McCallan - 10 wickets (+ 33 runs for 233 points)
Franklin - 9 wickets (+ 65 runs for 245 points)
Mortaza - 9 wickets (+ 109 runs for 289 points)
Rafique - 8 wickets (+ 42 runs for 202 points)
Rasel - 8 wickets (+ 16 runs for 176 points)
Mahmood - 8 wickets (+ 2 runs for 162 points)
Anderson - 8 wickets
Patel - 7 wickets
Panesar - 7 wickets (+ 3 runs for 143 points)
Chigumbura - 6 wickets

So to sum up, you people should have drafted Fleming, Bravo, or Powell. Razzak, Mortaza, or Langeveldt would have done nicely too.

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Doing quite nicely i am.

Hayden + Smith have been the big points getters.

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Great stuff Cleazer. @|

I knew Styris had done well. He scored a couple of 80's and took a 4-for at least once. But I didn't know that he would have done that well.

Gun picking by me so far. @|

I should have quite a few players left in the remaining matches (semi and Grand Finals) so I am hoping to pick up another bundle of points.

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

Cleazer you did an excellent job with this competition, hats off to you @|

Looking at my standings, man do i suck! |@

Well it's not over yet looks like the competition is between Willbix and I to see who will end up in last place :)
I must say this is been really fun, totally enjoying it.

Cleazer thanks for the credit for me choosing associates :)

Again great job Cleazer

Vaughan, Collingwood, and Flintoff just got 6 wickets for wilbix.
That really closed the gap on the places in front of him.

Gayle and Chanderpaul scored enough runs to put cleazer over 3000, so he moves up to second place!

Re: World Cup Fantasy League Draft

ENGLAND! doing it up for me. Vaughan also on 59 not out with Freddy and Colly still to bat. WOO! (too little too late though :S)
