Is this confirmed? (M. Allen)
Long trek is understating it. That's insane. Perhaps he's working on that side of town or moving. Oakleigh is a great cricket club. But with Saturday morning traffic these days, his best bet will be to leave for the game Friday evening.
By the same token, you shouldn't take yourself too seriously. These forums are here partly as an area to share rumours. Post/Pre-season especially. As long as everyone is taking these rumours with a pinch of shit, and as long as they are not casting aspersions and tarnishing people's reputations...
You can't on one hand (dismiss) talk about premier clubs trading in the red due to the points system and then on the other advocate a free market, it's contradictory. Look no further than local football to see how a lack of a cap on player payments can damage clubs and competitions. And then...
I got the impression from posts on here, that O'Connor would move on. Could be off the mark will wait and see.
I should hope they'd average under 15, as their top three wicket takers this season all averaged under 14! Lets just hope they can average over 15 with the bat!
Interesting, that's a shame. If that's how things turn out then the University is obviously more interesting in farming their international student contingent for every last dollar rather than providing amenities to its students.
I wish your club all the best, and hope that it works out well. The desperate and dateless one in this relationship is definitely Hawthorn.
What was given as the reason for the HMU split? My understanding is that Monash Uni Gryphons will now take over their facilities (WHAT A WASTE!).
I...
I agree with your sentiment re: Plenty Valley, Melton, Werribee. In this circumstance it feels more like a Premier club looking to latch onto another clubs facilities.
I'm sure you're not a Riverside man, because I'd be surprised if they had already started clearing room in the trophy cabinet.
Nobody is a monty. If a side scores 110+ against them in a Semi or GF it will be game on. They had four guys score 200+ runs last season and, based on what has been...
By that logic plenty valley are probably more an E-grade team. The reason to feel for Research is that they shouldn't be getting relegated by a last minute directive for the DVCA. It isn't punative, and its to bring up an uncompetitive, undeserving side who have no business working their way up...
The MCA is a quaint little social competition that is rather lucky to be mentioned in the same paragraph as the VSDCA, VTCA, DDCA and ECA. Making Gideon Haigh's overly verbose article all the more bermusing. They'd much rather exist in isolation from the other comps so that there sides can still...
This misses the point.
Sides have been unfairly removed from a grade to make room for a clubs 5th XI. They're not a first XI side. Fck them off. Their 2nd XI side wouldn't play finals in barclay, DVCA shouldn't be rolling out the red carpet for their 5ths. They don't add a lot to the...
My take on this (based purely on reading the CV proposal) was that they'd get 500k use that to rent office space and 5 full time administrators and dissolve the existing executive.
May be wrong. Interesting in hearing other people's interpretations
Correct me if I'm wrong. That 100k is to appoint a full time administrator and the current administrators work on a volunteer basis?
I think from the perspective of local cricket. The biggest potential benefit would be a potential stronger working relationship with local councils that would...
If his primary consideration is money, then he would potentially get a better offer from a club in the DDCA, ECA or VTCA. Although if what we read on this forum is true, then this might be the year for DVCA cricketers to cash in.
Would seem strange to play elsewhere in the DVCA, given how...
With the majority of blokes bowling 110-115km/hr do you really think they're necessary? Keep in mind, presumably the batting team will need to move them if a bowler changes sides of the wicket. At most grounds that would be a big pain in the ass at at least one end!
