Am I the only one around here who thinks Shane Warne was by far the best bowler in the history of the game??? I'm a big Murali fan too, but how can none of you even mention Warne in this chat? Maybe I should refresh your memories of the great Aussie spinner...
There is only one way to really impress any cricket selector / coach. Make runs.
I know you bat at 11, but there will be opportunities for you to make lots of runs or save your side and win your team the game. A 50* from an opener is no better than a 50* from a number 11 batsman.
Make the...
Yes it was a ball palmed from the front of the hand, I think his had a bit more revs on it than Warne and Macgill's sliders because it looked like he really flicked the ball with his wrist. The "die ball" is similar, but with even more revs and bowled slower.
Thanks:) Batting against spin is a great challenge, especially when your facing a bowler with all the toys! Makes it a lot easier if your a spinner yourself though!
Out of the 30 batsmen we (the spinners) have bowled to, only 2 of them have read a few variations! This is troubling, since they...

That's the leg spin bowler who plays for the first xi at my club. Those deliveries are what he calls "die balls" He has an unusual grip, he holds the ball with all his fingers wrapped around the ball but still gets...
The difficulty is that when the ball is spinning into my body and bouncing up, I don't always have room to play a shot. Ironically, the best shot I have against a leg spinner is the drive through cover / extra cover, which is exactly what he wants me to play. I never get out playing it because...
Thanks I'll keep that in mind next time.
The leg spinner doesn't have a square side spinner or very good backspinner, (and if he had them I would have picked them) all his leg breaks are overspun and on a bouncy track always go over the stumps unless pitched up (in which case I would play a...
There is probably an advantage in it for me since I'm entirely immune to googly syndrome:) If I see a batsman has a weakness against my googly (finds it much more difficult to play than anything else, even if he picks it) I could use the topspinning version of it as my stock ball against him...
Most of the time I do, but on some odd occasions when I know the ball won't hit the stumps unless the laws of physics are broken I just pad the ball away. It's partly because it's less risky than playing against the spin but also because I believe there is no need for using the bat. Sometimes I...
I just had a bowl outside, and decided to bowl a big wrong 'un (Wrong 'un with more side spin) I was amazed when I saw that it creeped low and slowed down after pitching with nearly no turn. (okay, weird)
I'm bowling on concrete, bowled another attempted big wrong 'un, creeped low and slow...
Unfortunately your right about the "cheating" part:D

Never heard of freehand glowsticking:confused: But these wrist exercises could be useful for bowling! Especially if you use variations like the back of the hand slower...
Are any of you dedicated ping pong players? It's a great sport, I've just started playing it, working on my "pendulum serve":D...
It's the next best thing if your a wrist spinner with nothing to do besides spinning a ball from hand to hand! Spin is the most important part of ping pong, (wait...
Thanks David.
These days I don't think of myself as a tail ender at all anymore. I have the skill of the average u/15 school cricket opening batsman! No 11 is just a number after all.
Today in the nets I was facing our clubs right arm leg spin bowler, I'm a left handed batsman and don't...
Drift, drop and turn, now that's a great offie for you:D...
Have you tried holding the ball like Swanny?

Don't know how big your hands are, but it might work for you if they are built like his. Mine are way to small to use...
Last season I used it as a quicker ball, now I just use it as an occasional ball that might keep very low. Terry Jenner doesn't bowl it in the same way that I do, mine is literally a karate chop with the seam perfectly upright with no leg spin whatsoever. With a new ball it swings dramatically:D...
Not really sure how the Trackman works:confused: It's a little watch type thing on the right hand bottom of the TV / computer screen that has a green, yellow and red color code. If the meter goes into the green it's just about no revs (fast bowlers and Paul harris) yellow is turn and bounce but...
Yes that step sideways usually helps me get more side-on as I struggle to get side-on without it. Last season I only went around the wicket, but now I go over the wicket and use the crease a lot more. Mostly around the wicket though because I get more purchase and accuracy that way.
PS. Ja...
The rain is obviously jealous:mad:...
I've seen a few videos that mention the fact that most people can only bend their wrists upwards about 45 degrees. The ideal wrist flexibility for wrist spinning (and other sport as well) is 90 degrees. I would like to achieve 180 degrees if it is possible...
