Looking like the weather is going to be pretty good on Saturday as well.. at least something is going right this year!
looking forward to setting up my chair and radio this Saturday.
Local crickets back.. and the races never left
Looking forward to seeing how the new recruits go this year. Not a lot of a chance to train with their new teammates.
Banyule looking to be another surprise packet?
for mine I think the Rosanna boys will struggle.
No home ground could have an impact.
Think the shooters will be Macleod & Riverside
would think a lot of clubs with the smaller rooms will struggle with capacity limits in their rooms. If you can set up a little kiosk outdoors you can sell some extra cans without me needing to walk to the other side of the oval.
Need to think of the fans
I would think it’s going to be brought forward... only 4 cases again today. Hopefully clubs can apply and get permission to set up kiosks outside the rooms etc and make a few $$ from passers by and picnickers watching some quality local cricket
The wording from the government and cricket Victoria themselves has been a tad bit confusing. The understanding I have, the teams will be able to train in groups of 2 with a coach present until November 1..
November 1 groups of 10 can train together. 2 groups of 10 on an oval and then another...
It would have been great to watch some 50 over cricket. But at the same time, 40 over cricket is a pretty good format at well with how early games are probably going to finish.
Those boys that want to bat slow can practice batting a bit quicker.
40 overs is still 240 balls.
Would be thinking if it is allowed this year, it’s going to be hard to get people out of the club rooms and off the beers.
think everyone will be keen for them
I don’t understand this fascination with Rosebank CC.. they are a successful club their NMCA record. Good luck to them in DVCA.
let’s be honest here, if they pay their players so what.
Let’s move on. Good to see some positive signs from the DVCA Board with start dates etc.
Will be interesting...
It will be interesting to see if indeed the comp has to modify game formats etc, if they do offer promotion / relegation .. can see why they would continue to do it, show goes on.. but geez you would be unlucky to be relegated this year at the same time.
Why not make them all 50 over one day games. Games could start at 12.
And if you do have all one day games, bonus point situation could make it more interesting.
don’t think there would be too many strong favourites.
You would probably just go the teams that played in grand finals from last year.
Let’s make this a Covid free zone lads. Hear enough about it throughout the day.
let’s just look at the positive signs that indicate we’ll get a season in at some point.
we can really only use England as a guide at the moment with their cricket up and about again. But our rates of infection come November/December will be far more manageable then what the UK’s are right now and they are still managing to play just fine.
It will all come down to the Premier and...
I haven’t played for a few years now. Don’t think I ever did play on one of the new pitches.
They do look a bit more fluffy these days, not sure if that helps the bowler at all
they do last considerably longer.
But they are a tad more expensive. It will never happen anyway. It would be a waste on hard wickets.
it’s more of a perfect world wish
I
I think we don’t need to worry about it for now.
If we still have this sort of “suburban lockdown” going in 3 months time, I think civilisation has a lot bigger things to worry about.
This will be contained with 6-8 weeks.
Let’s be patient.
Didn’t think there was much wrong with the GF “fiasco”
comp pushed until Cricket Vic / Aus got involved and forced the council to shut it down.
Harsh to pin a global pandemic on a local cricket board.
