2015/2016 Barclay Shield Thread

Maybe the pressure of relegation is impacting a few clubs? Things certainly heating up at both ends of the ladder
I think some clubs if they are being realistic will be content with playing in a stronger Money Shield comp next year.
All clubs playing Barclay now want to be there next year but with 3 going down some might say "hey we had a crack, we weren't good enough, lets take our medicine and re build in Money" Thats just were some clubs are at. What will hurt is if some clubs think they are genuine A grade and thru circumstances find then self in the drop zone

Pretty sure most clubs will be filthy if they go down.

If results go the way you'd expect this week, we'd have Rosanna, OPSF, Bundoora United, Mernda and Plenty all on 6 points. Oh those, 2 of them played finals last year and would think they were there abouts this year. Should make for a very interesting finish to the season. % is going to be crucial.

For the odd club, going down might be the right answer (ie. a bunch of old players about to hang up the boots). But generally speaking, scrap for dear life. Clubs will find it easier to recuit and retain players in Barclay. Epping are probably a good example of a club that battled to stay up for a couple of years, have now recruited a couple of players, brought one or two through and at this stage of the season are right amongst the mix, without having to drop grades.

Some big names really struggling with the bat this year,
Johnson 65
Whitcher 61
Malone 61
Curtin 54
Smale 27
Umpires or Pitches fault??

Bit quick to blame the umpires aren't we? Of all those you mentioned, there has been one LBW decision. The rest were bowled or caught. Maybe its the batsmen's fault for not being in form?

Ill back Malone and Curtin to get to three figures soon.

Only one century maker at this stage of the year and that was 100 not out, and O'Connor the leader run maker on 206. Something's amiss.

5 blokes in Barclay Shield with 150+ runs. 1 hundred.
10 blokes in Money Shield with 150+ runs. 5 hundreds.

Nothing amiss in the other shield. Maybe a few feeling the relegation pressures.
