2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Apparently this is the first international cricket in Hyderabad in more than a decade! I hope the fans show up to enjoy it.

Zimbabwe will be trying to rebound from the first match where the Pakistani batsmen pretty much did whatever they wanted to. Zimbabwe have dropped Mpofu and brought in Gary Brent. We'll see if it helps. Oher than that, apparently unchanged teams.

Pakistan Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan, Mohammed Yousuf, Shoaib Malik (capt), Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal (wk), Sohail Tanvir, Samiullah Niazi, Rao Iftikhar Anjum

Zimbabwe Vusi Sibanda, Hamilton Masakadza, Tatenda Taibu (wk), Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor, Chamu Chibhabha, Prosper Utseya (capt), Ray Price, Gary Brent, Elton Chigumbura

Utseya won the toss, and this time decided to bat. Let's see if it works out any better for him today.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Zimbabwe 69-2 after 16

Masakadza and Taibu look like they might be putting a decent partnership together.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Masakadza finally out for 87, but that was quite a partnership, good for 137 runs.

Zimbabwe 136-3 after 33 overs, Taibu up to 53 so far.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Brendan Taylor out for 26, Zimbabwe 211-4 after 43.3

Taibu is up to 78, and Pakistan is going to have to chase a score somewhere in the 270-280 range

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Taibu out for 81, Sohail Tanvir gets his 4th wicket.
218-6 after 46

Pakistan's bowling has been extremely economical over the past 4 overs. Forget 270-280, at this point Zimbabwe looks like they won't even reach 250.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Zimbabwe could only reach 238-8 after 50 overs. Great bowling at the end from Pakistan. Once Taylor fell there weren't any more partners for Taibu, and he wound up losing his wicket going for a shot.

To give you an idea of how Taibu was batting, in his 81 runs he only had three boundaries. It was a nice collection of smart batting with singles and doubles.

In the final 10 overs, Zimbabwe scored a mere 45 runs (losing 5 wickets). Pakistan will surely feel they have the momentum going into the break.

Following up on my very first words in this thread, the fans seem to have come out in force and are making lots of noise considering that it's not a big stadium. Nice atmosphere!

Sorry mate, I'm not watching this live, cleazer might be though.

Zimbabwe should have got at least 270, 45 runs from the last ten overs isn't really good enough from the position they were in.

Anyway, Pakistan have started their reply, they're 0/10 after two overs.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Salman Butt hits it straight back to Taibu, and he's out for 17

34-1 after 7

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

By the way, Prosper Utseya is hurt, he was really limping while he was batting after he pulled up after one of his singles. Taibu has actually taken over as the stand-in captain right now. Zimbabwe is going to have a tough time without being able to rely on Utseya's bowling today.

The only good news out of this for Zimbabwe is that perhaps this is a path back for Taibu to be permanent captain, which is where he belongs.

I'm watching on tv, and I'll try to pay attention to who the announcers are, there's at least one Zimbabwean in there too. If I miss them this time, I'll try to get them on the next ODI.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

The two current announcers are Waqar Younis and Mushtaq Ahmed.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

106-1 after 17 overs

Nasir Jamshed is up to 64 so far, let's see how much he can improve on his debut score from a few days ago. He plays a lot of really nice shots, but there's also a tendency there to play a few too many shots. STill, he's only 18 years old, and he's already got two scores of 60+ in his only two ODIs (regardless of who they were against).

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

New commentators are Hugo Ribatika and Zaheer Abbas.

I remember that there were quite a few different people from the first ODI too.
I'll keep watching.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Two runouts in one over, and both Nasir Jamshed and Younis are gone!! (Out for 74 and 35 respectively)

And both runouts were the result of excellent fielding from Zimbabwe, unlike the early runout in the first ODI, which was due to poor thinking from the batsmen.

Pakistan 131-3 after 20.5

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Lats 10 overs have been good for Zimbabwe,
Pakistan 169-4 after 35

they're still well ahead here, but they're not making it look as easy as it should be

Price just finished his 10 overs at 1/21,
that's some very nice bowling from him.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

thanks mate. Great if u got all of them.

We dont get that cricket here in Aus. At the moment we are getting Aus and India on channel 9 and west indies v south africa on fox.

And later when South Africa go to bangladesh we have to pay more to wotch it on Setanta sports on foxtel and we get new zealand v england on fox.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

Pakistan win by 5 wickets, 239-5 after 46.2 overs. Afridi really unleashed a quick 43 at the end there. Sohail Tanvir was man of the match for his 4 wickets.

I don't think I got them all. Suffice it to say, I'm 100% incapable of recognizing any Pakistani announcers voices, so if I don't see any names, I'm going to be clueless. I'll pay attention to the announcers in the 3rd ODI this weekend.

Of the 4 series you just named, I'm not going to be able to watch any of them (unless South Africa/Bangladesh makes a surprise appearance). I'll be able to watch Australia's possible tour to Pakistan and the South Africa tests in India though. I'm happy with whatever cricket I can get here in the US, and in fact I'm really looking forward to watching the upcoming Stanford 20/20 tournament from the Caribbean.

Re: 2nd ODI: Pakistan v Zimbabwe at Hyderabad (Sind)

yeah mate im sure you would being in the U.S.

Yeah hopefully we will get the South Africa V India tests on FOX but probaly on setanta after the S.A V Bang series.

Australia V Pakistan will definetley be on FOX thank god and so will Aus v West Indies when that is on later.

Thanks mate loving your work, thanks for watching the 3rd for the commentary team
