2nd Tri Series Final - Australia v India @ GABBA

Thoughts on this game? The Indians won pretty comfortably by 6 wickets chasing 239. Can Australia fight back and level the series? One thing is for sure the batting for the Aussies especially the middle order needs to really stand up. Personally didn't get to see this game today as WIN was out for us

Possibly the finale for 2 of WA's greats, Hoggy and Gilly, hopefully not.

Second final has been going for about 30 mins.

India won the toss and batted, and are 0/32 after nine overs. The pitch is a belter so we should see a high scoring game.

One change to each side, Ishant Sharma is out with a finger injury and Sreesanth takes his place. For the Australian side, Brad Hogg is out and Stuart Clark is in.

This is potentially the last game for Adam Gilchrist if they don't win today. Brad Hogg's last game would have been on Friday if Australia doesn't win today. Hogg is retiring from international cricket after the completion of the CB Series.

Australia XI: +Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, *Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Michael Hussey, James Hopes, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark.

India XI: Robin Uthappa, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, *+Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, S Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla.

Well, no doubt you've seen Chandu's thread and that obviously spoils the result.

Yes, India won the second final, meaning that they won the CB Series, 2-0.

India batted first and scored 9/258 off their 50 overs. Tendulkar top scored with 91, Yuvraj Singh made 38 and MS Dhoni 36.

Nathan Bracken was Australia's best bowler with 3/31 with Michael Clakre taking 3/52 with his part-time orthodox bowling.

In reply, Australia started poorly with Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting falling early and Clarke followed soon after. Matthew Hayden and the middle order tried hard but the target proved to be too much and the Aussies fell short by nine runs.

All-rounder James Hopes was top scorer with 63 in Australia's total of 249 all out. Hayden scored 55 with Michael Hussey and Andrew Symonds scoring 44 and 42 respectively.

India's best bowler was medium-pacer Praveen Kumar who took 4/46 and ultimately won him the Man of the Match award. Sreesanth and Pathan both took two wickets.

Man of the Series was Nathan Bracken for an outstanding tournament, he was easily the best bowler in the series and no doubt increases his value in world cricket. He is probably the best one-day bowler going around at the moment.

So, the end to a tumultuous tour by India which was marred by poor sportsmanship, childish antics and actions both sides would not be at all proud of. At times it was a poor spectacle with Australia's ruthlessness coming through too strong while India's childish antics didn't help the cause either.

Australia will not be pleased by losing the CB Series for the second time in a row after being the dominant side during the qualifying rounds. The same thing happened last summer with Australia playing very good one-day cricket only to lose to England in the finals.

The second final also concludes the careers of Adam Gilchrist and Brad Hogg who are now both retired from cricket. Both players were great servants of the country with Gilchrist's awesome batting displays and wicketkeeping skills changing the role of the wicketkeeper in world cricket forever in both test and one-day cricket.

Hogg will go down as one of Australia's best one-day spinners, he relished the opportunity after Shane Warne quit the one-day game and his stats are a testament to his efforts. Hogg wasn't the best test match player but he gave it his all and I'm sure he can say that he tried his best at test level. It's not every day that a person can say they played test cricket for Australia.

Those retirements will no doubt create a whole lot of discussion about who replaces who. The selectors won't have too long, the tour to Pakistan begins next month, there is a still a decision to be made about whether they will go or not. They then have a 3-month tour to the West Indies, those critical choices about the line-up will need to be made before then.

India now host South Africa in a three test series back at home.

So, an end to the tour with India winning the CB Series but Australia continued their dominance of test cricket winning the test series. The return leg of the tour is in October where India hosts four tests against Australia. No doubt they'll be more fireworks then!
