4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

So apparently in the last 5 test innings in which he's batted, Chanderpaul has been West Indies' top scorer! That's an incredible stat.
(69 in the second innings in the 3rd test against Pakistan in Karachi,
74 in the first innings of the 1st test at Lords,
he didn't bat in the second innings there,
didn't play in the 2nd test,
and then scores of 50 and 116 in the 3rd test,
and now 136 in the 4th test)

Will West Indies call upon him once again on Day 5 of this test?

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Cook gone for 13

37-1

Looks like England have started off with a decent run rate here, so the rest of today and tomorrow may be pretty entertaining.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Super ending for the Windies, getting Vaughan and Hoggard, and finishing the day off by nailing Pietersen for a duck!

England 121-4, they still trail by 166 runs.

If the wickets continue to fall quickly tomorrow, there's still a chance for a result in this test.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

165/6

Bell out.

England are looking a bit shaky at this moment in time.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Good partnership between Collingwood and Prior, already worth more than 100 runs.

England 272-6, they trail by 15 runs

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

9/370 now, Collingwood made a fine 128 and Prior 63. Strauss was out at the start of the day for 77. Other than that, the English batsmen have struggled.

Fidel Edwards has been the star for the Windies, he has 5/105. Powell and Collymore have two wickets.

West Indies have let themselves down a bit today. After the first hour, it looked as if they would be batting sooner than we thought but their failure to get another breakthrough has cost them here.

Still 40 overs left today and England lead by 83 runs.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Well, West Indies have completely lost any advantage they had in this match. They'll now be doing their best just to hang on for a draw on Day 5 again.

England finally all out for 400.
That's a lead of 113 runs.

Devon Smith comes in to open with Gayle.
Go figure. The captain Ganga has dropped himself.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

And Devon Smith is out for a duck.
West Indies 7-1

For freak's sake, bring in Chanderpaul early!!!! If you want to pull off a draw, you'll need to bat for as long as possible.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Ganga out, and not a single person is even remotely surprised.

15-2

Will the West Indies even make England bat a second time?

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Morton takes a big swing and winds up edging it onto his own stumps.

38-3

In walks Chanderpaul. Maybe he and Gayle will put together a nice partnership here, as they occasionally do in ODI's.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Stumps Day Four:

83/3

Gayle 52*
Chanderpaul 16*

could be an interesting final day

me thinks a draw

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Fox Sports poor coverage continues!

Started late last night. They missed the first part of play (with 3 channels)

Highlights (or what foxsports call them)today at 2pm - 4pm.

You never know what time the highlights will be on.

No consistency with fox sports what so ever!

They're a disgrace!

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

well the Windies have struck it lucky

the day's play currently delayed by a bit of rain and a wet outfield.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Not luck enough as far as they're concerned.

All out for a disappointing 222 (Richie Benaud's favourite number). Chanderpaul was again the standout and was the last man out for a fighting innings of 70. Gayle was out early in the day for 52 with Dwayne Bravo the only other notable scorer with 43. Corey Collymore finished on 16 not out at the end.

Monty Panesar picked up 5/46 with Matthew Hoggard taking 3/28.

A target of just 110 runs for England to get with 50 overs left on Day 5.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Cook out, England 16-1

if a few wickets fall, at least this might be an interesting chase

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

Strauss fell too, but it looks like Vaughan and KP will take this one home easily.

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

And that's it, England win the series 3-0

Re: 4th Test: England vs West Indies at Chester-le-Street

I'm sure the player of the series is going to be Panesar, Pietersen, or Sidebottom, but in all honesty, it really should be Chanderpaul. He was outstanding.
