"A TRAVELING WE WILL GO"

They didn't appeal to me either but I wasn't there as a tourist. These countries are not for tourists anyway and I would neither recommend them nor would I have travelled there privately. Travelling as a "oronbeaon" (European) was dangerous for various reasons. There was poverty, health risks, and hardly anything for sight-seeing. The infrastructure was not as destroyed yet as it presumably is today, though, but the standard was low.

hardly anything for sight-seeing.

Only thing that interests me would be ancient ruins such as Palmyra in Syria, that is before that insidious ISIS destroyed much of it.

Exactly. That's a very good example.

And if I told you that this was the very place viewed from a different perspective, you'd probably agree, wouldn't you?

90% of the travelling I’ve done has been within Australia, with most of that in south-western Australia (such a beautiful place). Had a caravan trip around Aus with my parents, really sad that I was too young to remember any of it really. Often go to Darwin where I have cousins and go fishing for a week (very fun).

But outside of that, I’ve been to Bali, like someone else said, it’s not nice, I personally don’t like it at all. I can see how someone might though. Lombok was much nicer.

The biggest and best holiday I ever had was to Europe, ie, London (😀), Paris(😐), Nice(🙂, might be the wrong place in Italy so obviously not the most memorable, but nice), Barcelona(😀), Zurich(🙂), Zermatt(😐), the train ride between Zurich and Zermatt(😄), Helsinki(😁), Ruka (a ski resort in northern finland)(😁😁😁😁).

If someone forced me to go back to one of the places I went in that trip. 10 times out of 10 it’d be Finland. Not just for the ski resort that was beautiful, fun and had the fluffiest snow I’ve ever seen, but also for Helsinki, easily my favourite city of the trip, I’m not sure if it was the area of it we were in but it was so peaceful. It didn’t look dirty like Paris or a little overcrowded like London, but it was that nice crisp cold and I just remember being absolutely calm and enjoying it so so much.

I also have fond memories of Helsinki due to a video of me and my brother ice skating. My parents were recording us, I’m going slow getting used to it, my brother is flying around the rink (this is how it has always been). As my brother goes past my parents he says “why is he going so slow” and as if touched by the hand of god he then immediately backflips onto his arse. This is all on camera, recorded and duly sent to all of our family group chats.

On one trip I traveled round Europe in a double deck bus, no kidding. Was via an Aussie company Top Deck Travel which used decommissioned buses (below) then fitted them with beds and a kitchen on the upper deck. Amazing how these old buses stood up to the rigors of driving on all types of roads thru many countries. I think we broke down once in a month and ran out of petrol once and had a couple of flat tyres. Great memories tho.

I would enjoy this type of adventure, I like to be away from crowded seaports and train stations 🤗

One of the first cruises I went on was from Portsmouth to Spain. We travelled all day from my hometown in Northwest England by coach, arriving around 9pm in Portsmouth. After getting through customs we boarded the ship, it was huge, our cabins were located on the same deck as the shops, casino, clubs and restaurants, so that was quite ideal really as I don't like using lifts.
I almost trapped my fingers in the cabin bed fixtures as I pulled it down 😂 and the sea was so rough and choppy I could hear my cosmetic jars and bottles rattling away 😮
Top deck on the ship was fantastic as we could see dolphins playing in the waves from the ship. A few planes flew over too, I was told that it's to check with our captain that everything is ok 🤗

What was Spain like for you Jessica? Was it enjoyable and easy going? Was it too touristy?
I've never been to Spain but hear its climate is similar to my Perth's. I've got two olive trees growing, and lots of big palm trees.

Yes then you'd have enjoyed this Jessica. So laid back. Only downside I found was that a month is a long time to be together with the same people in a confined space. After that I took shorter tours which better suited me.😎
