Asia Cup Series

Re: Asia Cup Series

Substitute fielder Jehan Mubarak takes a smart catch at leg gully off the bowling of Mendis. Mahmudullah pushed forward undertainly and it brought the edge which Mubarak caught quite nicely.

7/162 from 33 overs.

Re: Asia Cup Series

Razzak plays an across the line slog but drags onto his stumps. That gives Murali his 4th wicket and Bangladesh are 8/168.

Not too far away from the end.

Re: Asia Cup Series

Muraliatharan has five now, Mortaza top edges a sweep and is caught at short fine-leg by Chamara Silva.

9/172, asking rate is almost 13.5 an over with Shahadat Hossain as the jack.

Re: Asia Cup Series

Mendis finishes the innings after Farhad Reza tries to send the ball into orbit but only edges to Jayawardene at first slip. Bangladesh all out for 174 and Sri Lanka win by a massive 158 runs.

Sri Lanka were too good. Jayasuriya and Sangakkara set up the win with the bat while Murali and young Mendis were irresistable with the ball. A great all round effort from the Lankans.

Unbelievable stuff from Mendis, 17 wickets for the series an a batting average of just over 10!!! Quite remarkable really. Sri Lanka were the best team all series and they were too strong for India in the final. Mendis is quite the pick-up, he looks to be the perfect replacement for Murali at the moment and Jayasuriya could keep playing till he's past 40 at this stage. He hasn't lost any of his striking power, it's quite hard to believe he's 39.
