Australia in India

Re: Australia in India

India started well with 16 runs from the first two overs but now they've lost two quick wickets. Sehwag was bowled by Brett Lee after playing onto his stumps and now nightwatchman Ishant Sharma is out after popping a short delivery from Clark which is caught by Ponting at short point.

2/34 in the 10th over, Gambhir on 17 and Dravid has just got to the crease on zero. A little more than three overs left in the day. If Australia could get another wicket or two it would make day five quite interesting indeed.

Dravid in.

34/2
Obviously they had deliberately brought in a night watchman right at the start.
What did Gambhir make in his second dig?

He's still in.

India 2/43 at stumps, leading by 79. Gambhir on 21, Dravid on five. Most likely going to be a draw from here unless something spectacular happens.

Hopefully India bat for 40 overs and make another 170 runs and set em 250 in 50

Can't see them being that generous and with Dravid there I can't see them batting that quickly. :p

If India were to set them a target it'd be more of a "professional declaration", something attainable but still out of Australia's reach. I reckon about 300 off 45 or 50 overs the Indians would go for. That sort of declaration would show that India are still trying to make a game of it but also trying to make sure Australia doesn't level the series.

I don't think that India will actually let Australia bat again to be honest.

Would be nice but an unlikely scenario

I agree.

Re: Australia in India

I don't know, it really depends on how the morning session goes as to whether or not India will give Australia a second go with the willow.

Re: Australia in India

I doubt very much so that the aussie's will be getting a second bat today. I can just see the Indians shutting up shop and taking the match to the final test. Even though with their spinners and a deteriating pitch they could possibly produce a result, they will stick to the conservative approach.

Re: Australia in India

I forgot that Kumble was back as captain, if it was Dhoni they may have taken the aggressive approach.

How is the pitch playing?

It's a road. However, there's turn for the spinners if you can get it in the right areas. Sehwag took five so it shows you just have to do the right things to get wickets.

5 an over on a last day pitch isnt easy and without ODI restrictions would be a good target, with the deepness and big hitting of the Aussie batting lineup they would go for it, 300 off 45 would be unlikely as I couldnt see them scoring that quickly

India really should get out of their negative mindset, although it is unlikely. Only problem for India is test cricket is alot about luck these days, gotta take your chances when you get them because next test if Aus win the toss and make 500, I can see India losing very comfortably

Re: Australia in India

If we dont dismiss the wall early if will be a dull draw.

If Brett Lee can shake up Dravid, which seems possible, it could be interesting.

Re: Australia in India

176 runs ahead, 6 wickets in hand and only 47 overs left to bowl. A draw would be a pretty safe bet at this stage

Re: Australia in India

Nice to see him finally hold one, but even an U/12 player would have caught that

I'm sure everyone will be happy to know that Ponting is on the Krezja bandwagon making sure White doesnt take any more wickets
