Australia in India

Re: Australia in India

Especially not with ****ing Johnson in it, unbelievable! Screws up the batting then totally ****s Australia with the ball as well, White might have to bowl tonight

Re: Australia in India

Jadeja hits it straight to Ponting and goes for a suicidal single, Harbhajan sends him back but it's way too late and Manou has the bails off with Jadeja well short.

7/182, India are self-destructing, Harbhajan edges just wide of Manou and it goes for four, he's on 17 now, Praveen Kumar is on 0. Powerplay has been taken.

69 needed off 63.

Re: Australia in India

Good spell from Watson so far, 2-1-5-0, that four was a genuine edge too. Having a look at his stats for ODI cricket, averages just under 40 with the bat and just over 30 with the ball. That's fairly impressive.

7/182 from 40 overs, 69 needed from 60 balls.

Re: Australia in India

Got him!!!! Watson replaces Johnson again and strikes first ball. A slower one from Watson, it was full and Harbhajan plays his shot too early giving Watson a smart catch to his right.

8/204 from 42.1. Nehra is the new batsman.

Re: Australia in India

Ah, it's Watson again!! Short of a length ball, Kumar is caught on the crease and edges behind to Manou. He's out for 16 and it's 9/217, Ishant Sharma is the last man in.

Re: Australia in India

All over! Nehra tries to heave the ball down the ground but doesn't get enough on it and Hauritz takes a well-judged catch to give Watson his third wicket.

India are all out for 226, Australia win by 24 runs.

Lee's gone home injured with an elbow problem, Hopes has followed him as well. Clint McKay's been called up as cover.

Need Marsh to open with Watson with Ponting and Hussey dropping back to numbers three and four. We don't seem to have anything below number four at the moment which is worrying. I'd like to see White bat at five.

Has Lee taken over from Watson as our injury-prone golden boy? A week is a long time in cricket. It's amazing what $2.5 million can do to one's pain threshold!

No he hasn't, I'm still waiting for Watson's head to fall off in the first Test against the Windies. :D

Good win by Australia. Really well done considering Johnson having a hard time. Whether anyone thinks he should be in the side or not he will be. He is the best player in the world as just appointed so the selectors won't lose faith in that sort of a commendation too quickly.

Re: Australia in India

Eddie, you ready for this?

Yet another injury, this time it's Siddle. He has flown home with soreness in his side.

Should be fit by the start of the Aussie summer, but if Australia win this series with 6 (I think I counted right) vital, or near vital, injuries it will be a huge statement to the world that Australia is back in the ODI world.

Re: Australia in India

I think Australia did pretty well to win the 4th ODI without Lee, Bracken, Clarke, Hopes and Ferguson who are all in their first choice XI as well as a half-fit Siddle who couldn't bowl a second spell due to the aforementioned injury.

Dirk Nannes and Brett Geeves are the favourites to take Siddle's place.

Re: Australia in India

Geeves is playing in a Shield game as we speak though, and could be vital for the win.

Can they just take him and say too bad?

They did to Victoria, took McKay before the last day when he was needed, that means nothing, the National side takes precedence

But the player can be replaced in the current match

Yeah I know it does happen and everything, and if I were a player and I didn't get selected in the Australian side because I was playing a state game I'd be furious, but it would ruin Tasmania's hopes of anything tomorrow.

And then what happens anyway... do they replace him mid game?

Re: Australia in India

Yep, would be an interesting test of the rules, if I was Tassie I would add a batsman, not that anyone could save them here, got the spoon in the bag this year

Victoria add Patto who then bowled on the final day in the Shield game when McKay headed to India

Re: Australia in India

No one so far, although with Henriques appearing to be the next player to head home then they will have to send another player over

Re: Australia in India

Apparently they have now decided to send Ronny over, about 2 weeks too late and also the biggest selection from left field, the latest NSW hack to play for Australia is Burt Cockley
