Australia vs England - The Ashes 2021/22

He seems to have lost his mojo bowling yorkers of late,
Lost his mojo picking up wickets period before this series. The Adelaide pinkie got him going now he is back to being the bees knees so a cert for the Pakistan tour now. I'd still have Richardson over him.
edit: some posts on Baggy Green thread awaiting comments.
I'd appreciate some input on the Baggy Green thread people as it is the general thread for Aussie cricket. Also why dont our Sub Continental friends create their own thread. Plenty of room in the international sub forum.

So Head replaces Harris in the team with Khawaja moving up the order to open. Given Harris' form, it seems to be a short-term decision for the moment, I would have preferred Khawaja to remain in the middle order but we'll have to see how he goes.

With Harris out and Khawaja potentially a stop-gap solution, it would appear there is a spot at the top of the order up for grabs.

In terms of England's side, it seems as if they'll make several changes, potentially as many as five. Buttler has gone back to England with a broken hand and it appears Sam Billings may make his test debut with the gloves. Haseeb Hameed appears to be on borrowed time and could be replaced by Rory Burns while Ollie Pope may come in for Jonny Bairstow if Bairstow is deemed unfit to play after the finger injury he sustained in the fourth test in Sydney. Chris Woakes looks set to replace Jack Leach with the Bellerive Oval pitch to favour the seam bowlers while Ollie Robinson will replace the likely to be rested James Anderson.

Pitch looks as if it'll have a lot in it for the bowlers early, particularly with the greenish nature of the pitch plus the cloud covers and showers forecast for the opening two days of the game. While showers are forecast for the first two days, there is not that much rain forecast on those days with the remaining days looking to be decent although cool and somewhat cloudy.

CA keep talking up Harris on the back of his one decent knock for the series, his 76 in Melbourne. Check out his other six scores.3,9,3,23,27,38. Started poorly then his usual blueprint of getting starts and perishing. Still only 3 fifties, no tons from 26 innings career wise. His conversion rate is abysmal. Regardless, he still looks likely to make the Pakistan tour. Bewildering.

As expected a Bellerive greentop. But the locals say dont be swayed by the grassy track .. 'this is a batting ground'.

Not looking all that promising for much play in the day/dusk sessions.

Jimmy Anderson not playing in what was his last ever Ashes game. Why? Perhaps to give him a fitting farewell from the crowd he should've been rested in Sydney and played here in the series finale.

Joe Root has sent us in. He may finally have got it correct as batting wont be easy on this lively seamer. Pommies going with an all pace attack. Leach bowled well last match.. every bit as good as Lyon.

Top toss to win. Another super seaming pitch. Will be hard to get in on.

Warner flirts and nicks off to one he needed to leave. Marnus gets a life after going too hard at the ball.

Instead of years of autobahns we needed to be preparing grassy Shield pitches to better prepare us for similar ones we may encounter either here or abroad. Clearly even our best batsmen have forgotten how to handle the moving ball. Smith said Melbourne was the hardest pitch he has played on. This Bellerive one looks just as challenging.

Terrific counter punching by these two. Good policy as this is not a pitch to block ball after ball.

On no. That was clever bowling Stu Broad. While Marnus displays his best watusi moves. :p

Poms back on top at dinner.
