Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

There's been talk that the AFL won't hold practice matches at Austar Arena because the square in general is too hard in February, which is probably a fair point. However it also falls down because of the ground capacity. The Roosters are also working with the Council to acquire part of the grassy land on the South side so that they can build another grandstand, which would up the capcity of the ground significantly (and block the cold southerly winds).

Know Burnsy (and his umpiring capability) well. Good luck to the lad - the only central umpires we've had on the AFL list in recent times are Shane McInerney and Jamie Love.

I'm not prepared to let Ponting off the hook until he makes some runs against a team above the quality of the Vic's 2ndXI. Let's see how he goes against India later in the year. From my memory he averages 12 in India and the IPL wasn't a happy hunting ground for him either.

God you are stupid....

The ground can't even be used for cricket either at the moment. Nobody can train on the ground because it is way too hard for anyone to play any sport on it.

I know this is a waste of time telling you pidge but you have no idea. If Austar Arena is too hard for any sport then why was cricket played on it all summer?

Please answer I want your explanation.

Also please don't call people stupid when you are about 30 and still a student at tafe because you can't get a real job.

You have the nerve to call me stupid?! You don't even bloody play cricket!!!

You've avoided every cricket question anyone has asked of you!!! Cobber is still waiting for you to answer his questions.

If memory serves people played cricket on it fine all season. I mean if we can manage to play on western oval, which is similar to playing on a school basketball court, then playing on Northern oval is like playing on the mcg!!!

Yes why because you think that people should be playing footy on hard grounds......
Do you seriously want everyone getting season ending injuries?

I know that most people don't that's why the Council has closed the oval.....

Because the council closed the ground.....

You would be best to ask the Ballarat City Council on why they closed the oval instead of making smartarse comments on here.

You are stupid because you act like a fool and it doesn't make you look good.

Careful pidge that sounds like a personal insult. Thats not tolerated on here, the administrator may take action on that...

anyways back to the issue, Northern Oval is one of the better cricket grounds around and it would be a big blow to ballarat cricket if it were to lose such a good facility.

What you said about it being written in to the clubs constitution about have rights to the ground I imagine would be exactly right. I actually believe and have read government policy on the issue, but cricket and football are, by Australian Law, not allowed to operate more than the assigned 6 months of the year. That is a real law. The footy club should have no more use of the ground than the law dictates.

If the footy club goes and books the ground ahead of time, then why not return the favour?! or book it of a thursday night for like the next 5 years or something?

As for AFL regulations, thats a massive load...how many exclusively AFL grounds are their in this state? I reckon i've prob played cricket on most of the VFL homegrounds, what makes Northern Oval so exclusive?!

oh sorry....Austar Arena

Come on Pidge. Just give up now. You're fighting a losing battle.

I'll give you one thing. You do provide a bit of entertainment. In that that most of your posts are laugh out loud hilarious and not in a good way.
