I'm not sure if you guys heard about the situation the boys down the highway were faced with on Saturday. Apparently Mr Vic Country pulled out of the game 8.30am to holiday with his missus.
Can anyone shed light on this??

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Tips for this weekend:

Wendouree v Mt. Clear at Wendouree:
Wendouree have more to play for and with their Vic Country guns back they should sneak over the line against a Mount Clear team missing Blake.

Napoleons/Sebastopol v Darley at Napoleons:
Although Cape will be back for Darley I can't see them beating Naps given that Darley are out of the finals race and Naps need to win.

Golden Point v North Ballarat at Eastern Oval:
Golden Point easily over North.

Coronet City v East Ballarat at Ballarat Grammar 2:
Coroent City will struggle big-time against a quality side like East Ballarat and will lose.

Ballarat/Redan v Brown Hill at City Oval:
Ballarat/Redan have to much too play for to lose to Brown Hill.

What are everyone's thoughts for this weekend?

I dont think there would have been anything sinister involved, Parker is just a shocking runner between wickets.

He ran out two blokes when we played them last year.

yes they all look pretty straight forward except Wend V Mount Clear. very tough one but I think Wendouree's players are out of form and Mount Clear will get over the line. Look for their spinners to do all the bowling without Blake. I might go for an upset and pick Brown Hill to knock off Ballarat Redan not sure why but just a bit of a gut feeling.

Some good selections although I have:
Mt Clear to beat Wendouree but a tight match
Naps-Darley game maybe close, Darley in an upset, about time they won another
Easts easily over Coronet, unfortunately Burnsey can't be everywhere
Ball/Redan to get over the line against Brown Hill, although it would be nice to see B Hill win one

I think it will be an interesting weekend,
Mt Clear v's Wendouree- Game of the round, wendouree will have their guns back from Vic Country rep side....Mt Claer shaping as a front runner for the falg. - Wendouree to win by 5 wkts

Naps v's Darley - Naps beat Darley in the one dayer 2 weeks ago and both sides are still in contention for finals, although darley were beaten in a close game last week by Coronet and Naps obviously washed out- A closer game than you think Darley by 1 wkt in an upset

East v's Coronet - East looks too strong for Coronet who rely too heavily on Burns, Coronet had a good win last week but East will prove why they are the side to beat this coming finals campaign

B/Redan v's Brown Hill - Like the Naps darley game closer than what a lot of people would thought, B/Redan obviously look better on paper but look out for Stevens, Knowles to lift the Hill to a 25 run win

Nth v's Golden Point - definately the easiest game to pick, Point would be looking for an outright after day 1 and may just do it to settle 3rd spot on the BCA ladder,

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Naps v darley naps have it in the bag. darley were bowled out for 124 after 70 overs and in reply naps are 0/40. at tea darley were 2 for 60. branch took 5-30 and corden 2-8 off 12 overs.

one over for darley must be close to a record...16 balls. 9 front foot no balls and a head high full toss from the pom!!!

How'd everyone else do today?! Especially wend v mt clear...

east look to be on top against coronet. coronet 206 and east 1 for 20 odd in reply. Everard made 70 odd and irving was the main wicket taker for east.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

given the lack of noise here in recent days, its safe to presume that mt clear & darley had bad days on the weekend. nothing to pump your tyres about boys???

Haven't seen exact scores but heard enough to comment.
If Wendouree defend their 366, and my boys don't chase down 321 against Brown Hill, you would think that Wendouree will take 4th spot with Brown Hill and Darley to come?
Point should chase down the 180odd of North, Naps easily against Darley and East also to easily chase down low 200 score of Coronet.

Although Wendouree appear to be in the box seat to claim 4th spot I still think it is fairly open.

Ballarat/Redan are a decent shot at making 321 against Brown Hill who dont have any gun bowlers.

Also, judging by Darley's performance on the weekend Naps might be in the runnning for an outright victory which would shake things up a bit...

Both sides look to have been weakened significantly through unavailabilities.

Mount Clear were always going to struggle without Blake and Kentish.

Darley were without Cape again, he must've been unavailable next week because he made 130 in the seconds.

you would think that with wendouree's run home they will qualify for the finals. that will leave it to the last game between point & naps if both sides continue to win which they should. point only 3 points clear of naps, so the winner will go thru.

Hello Cobber14 or box face as I like to call you. It must feel good to be in your position. No one knows who you are, you can't play cricket for crap. Don't worry Cobber 14 a majority of people know which team you play for.
I look forward to our next battle with you, although I most likely won't be playing 3rds.

Looking at the the final standings the points gap between the 4th placed side to the second last team could possibly be a matter of one and a half games, good for the comp? Or is it that some sides are slipping which allows the coronets,Darley and Brown Hills to be so close...

Mt Clear were always going to struggle without the 2 opening bowlers made obvious with Fletcher opening the bowling.

Darley have only had Cape for 3 games this year so if they had him more often they could possibly have been a finals aspirant?

Wendouree were always going to be up there with the quality of players it has Johnson, Pyke, Miller, Dalmenico etc

Naps have a side that has a good bowling attack and if Faulkhead get going could be the difference in whether they have a real chance of playing finals, it looks like he started bowling on the weekend.

Golden Point should win but i think they rely too heavily on White and SteveO and ofcourse Moore who i beleive injured his shoulder on the weekend in the game against Bendigo!

Coronet will need Burns to make a big one to get over East this week but i cant see it happening he needs more support from a couple of other players

B/Redan need Bam Bam back sorry Greg seems Lynch hasnt really got you guys going this year just shows that even though Bam Bam was not liked around the place he was the one that made everyone put more effort in...

My tip for the top four

East
Mt Clear
Golden Point
Wendouree...

I was originally thinking East for the flag but i cant see them being able to beat Wendouree who will come from 4th to win the flag...

East to lose in semi against Wendouree
Mt Clear to beat Golden Point with having Blake and Kentish back

And obviously Wendouree have too many contributors compared to Mt Clear

thoughts???

We don't need him back but we would like someone of the same playing claibre yes. He has left a big hole in the team but even though we aren't as successful as last season all the boys would have to agree that they are enjoying this year much more than the previous 4. Ultimately that's what cricket is all about, enjoying playing with a good bunch of blokes. We won a premiership last year but I think you'll find it was a bit hollow/soured by his involvement. Lynchy can only work with the cattle provided, and with injury to key players it's difficult to succeed.
