Where does Gilligan (Jeff Rieniets) rate in this list. There was a couple of years there in the mid to late 90's that Harwood and Rieniets went on a terrorising rampage in the competition. I was lucky enough to only have to face Harwood but sitting at short leg to Rieniets was an awesome experience watching the whites of some guys eyes and the legs quivering a bit. It was a pity that he didn't crank it up at training too often, but when he did it was a triffic challenge.

Will never forget 2 Neil Lee incidents. He sconned Jeffers (on 80 odd) in the left temple when he was playing a forward defence - just totally deceived hime with awesome pace and bounce. Tim McLeod then got hit in a Semi Final with the ball going through!!! the gap between helmet peak and grill and decking him. Was at the other end and the sound was ugly and the resultant bruising uglier.

Good to see bit of cricket getting mentioned on a cricket site. Last 5 pages have been a bit of a battle. It's a good site, bit like a pack of mixed nuts. Unfortunately, even in a good pack, there's always gunna be some peanuts.

Wouldn't mind yapper 3 coming to our club. Anyone who can bag the association crowned the best in Victoria this year must be some player. Hopefully he lets his bat do the talking because what comes out in his messages sounds like he'd view life a bit like "a box of chocolates".

I know im only a young bloke and neil is probably past his prime...but i remember first facing him when i was 14. i angled a couple through backward point for four and then one down to fine leg. I have never seen someone want to kill me as much as he did that day...every ball from there on in was chest or higher...top bloke though!! but yeah will never forget that look...would love to have seen him in his prime...

Heard Karl Mayne and maybe S Miller and E Johnson were thinking of going. That could put a dint in the Red caps side.
S McVitty will play another year at the Mounties before heading.

If the Darley recruiting is anything like the footy, they will be in for a good season.

Not sure how true this is but I heard Darley have already signed up one of Point's young bowlers. Clearance will still need to get through though.

Every quick bowler has a day out from time to time but quickest spell i ever saw was Jeff Rieniets at the Northern Oval in a final against East. It was very very rapid. Always happy batting at 11 against him and harwood !!

When I started at Point, I turned up to training and faced Neil Lee and Rob Orr (both 30-32 years old - 3 Cleary Medals between them), Paul Lacy, Neil Thompson, Cat Stevens, Mick Vandeheuval and Steve Davidson. No wonder Point firsts were getting bowled out for 140 and then bowling out the opposition for 120. We weren't getting any decent batting practice. They'd stand up the back of their run-ups and laugh and plot your doom. Orry was the only bloke I ever knew who made me look ultra-silly. Gave me an off-cutter, knocked my off stump out, then apologised saying "Sorry, Thorold. That wasn't fair." It would make me furious but what could you do?

Gilligan was your classic opener with the great big long run-up and rolling Pokie machine eyes. He skidded on though so I didn't think he was as dangerous as those other fellas. In saying that I can only recall making runs against him a couple of times out of plenty of attempts.

Rob Orr was the one though. Unfortunately he did to a couple of blokes what you would never wish to do to anyone. One in Maryborough and one at the old Lakeside ground in Ballarat. Affected Rob terribly for years and probably still does. Magnificent bloke and could make the ball talk. After Lakeside I only saw him bounce a bloke once. Scared the sh*t out of Dave Elmes at the Eastern one day. Would never bowl short after those incidents though.

Yeany was pretty sharp and moved the ball both ways when he was in his mid-20s too. And that Murnane bloke from Napoleons was slippery as a young bloke. Plenty of bounce too. Loved his beer.

Thanks for the tip. I have been pretty ordinary over the last few years so any advice you can give me would be well received.

Thanks again. Any help you can offer us hacks the better. There are plenty of us on this site - Simon Irving, Nathan Yates, Steve O'Loughlin, Stick Murnane, Daniel Wright, Steve Nicholson, Matt Swards, and especially Josh White. We all struggle and would appreciate any guidance you can give us. I realise that you can't say too much, what with you not playing against us in the lower grades we play as you'll probably be captain/coach of a club like Golden Point or East or Napoleons this year, but any advice is better than none.

I don't have a problem with your homosexuality and I certainly wouldn't make fun of it. You should be proud of who you are. You seem to be a little frustrated. Sorry to sound ill-informed on the matter, but aren't you folk supposed to be happy-go-lucky?

And I'm guessing you are around about 15 years old, maybe 14. What with all your text spelling such as "r u" and "some1"; misspelling simple words such as "I'm" and "coming"; using words of different tense in the same sentence, such as "called", which is past tense, then "find", which is present tense; and your penchant for using the word "like" at the start, finish and more often than not in the middle of nearly all of your sentences.

How does an upwardly mobile, technically savvy, gay, teenage simpleton with delusions of grandeur and far too much spare time like yourself make so many errors in five short sentences?

Like, whatever!
