Will be interesting year at ballarat-redan, to see how Skontra's coaching skills transfer to cricket. Without "the jewellers" ( Allan brothers) will need to make lots of runs to protect a very inexperienced bowling line up. Landry, Whinney Hoey and Skontra all important. I have no knowledge of any recruits of note, but Im sure Skontra and Landry's Waubra connection may bear some fruit.
personal opinion only, but think we will be middle of the pack with lots of improvement to come

Very humerous!
Avoiding injury? So turning up to major league in August helps you avoid injury?
Most of you blokes on here probably consider running 2 laps (of a basketball court) before training a solid training session!

Well if u can pull that fence post out of ur arse and do some proper training focused on cricket conditioning then you'd find how much of a benefit it really can be!!! Major league and indoor sessions are good for just getting the right muscles working, avoiding injury and working on the basics before hitting the serious stuff outdoors.

Yeah I hear there might be some prospects from the Waubra connection but I don't know if they would solve any of you bowling problems anyway. Just add to your batting. So it looks like you will just have to make 400 every week and hope like hell that holds up. Skontra may even have to drop the gloves and roll the dodgey shoulder over? Any good young bowling prospects coming through there?

Last game last year the bowling attack included Josh Murphy and Chris Egan (mediums) along with Aaron Johnson (leggy) so I guess they will get first crack. Leigh Thomson picked up 5 against Wendouree in the 1's last year so should get a chance. All are under 23. So with Hoey and Landry and some experience from Leigh Cassidy or Mark Sculley (but perhaps not Mark Hynes) we might go OK.
For a dark horse .....Darren Edwards, who played thirds last year and just turned 18.

Do you think there is any chance of keeping yabby away from the bar long enough to be capable of getting more than a four over spell out of him?

Yabby has been training already this year so we expect big things from him as he looks to be our frontline bowler.
Aaron Johnson will come on again this year. Works hard at his bowling, best wrong-un I've ever faced without doubt (and many will back me up there). Murphy is a work horse full of energy and enthusiasm, needs more consistency but can't knock his endeavour.
Chris Egan, 16 years old (might be 17 now) very good prospect with the ball and the bat, will do good things.
Darren Edwards, if he gets his head on right he will trouble most batsmen in Ballarat.
With Skontroff at the helm these kids will go forth in leap and bounds I have no doubt. Hope a (26yr) old fella by the name of G Wakeling can assist post October all things going to plan.

I did consider mentioning Trav's ripper that he got passed me last year Big Guy, but I managed to pick the second one. That kid is a very good prospect for the Pointie heads. But I must say that even standing behind Johnno when he bowls it I still struggle to recognise it.

I don't know anything officially or unofficially but I saw him at the MCG a few weeks back when Ballarat High School played in the VSSSA grand final and he looked like he was limping a fair bit. May just have been the cold and/or hard to get going but I would think he wouldn't be right until Christmas at least.

Geez if he is still possibly not right that would be a big loss for them as he was pretty reliable in the home and away season. Im not writing them off at all but im just not sure they will be able to cover the loss of Blakey and a few of these others.
You blokes might have to get mumpy wallis back with his tweakers !!
