Was simply responding to an entry that included the words RIVERGUM and DENNIS .
What are the boundaries for DVCA?
Given that Hurstbridge and Laurimar are in the confines of the DCVA, I would imagine Northcote not being a problem. But perhaps take it to another thread and not clog this one as this is for the top grade. The 2 teams you mention will be in Mash Shield so take it over there plz

Those two teams will not see Barclay shield in the next 10 years

from the conversations I’ve been hearing Bundoora United and Diamond Creek have some big recruits coming in this season.
Does anyone else have similar news?

Something that is going to become a real talking point is the points system.

The logic behind it is ok in theory, however all it is going to do is make struggling clubs less competitive for longer.

Let’s use Thomastown United as an example and by no means is this meant to sound disrespectful, however they could have been almost the most uncompetitive side we have seen in Mash Shield since it’s beginning. For them to get competitive next season they probably will have to recruit a minimum of 5 x 1st XI DVCA standard players, something quite doable for most networks. However these new rules do not permit this as anyone who has played 1st XI in the last 3 years is equal to 3 points. Each club only had a total of 20 to play with.

To make maters even more complicated, players do not drop a point until after 2 season at the club. So basically you are hamstrung for a number of years to bring in more talent.

The long term answer is, foster your own juniors and bring through 1 point players. However as we know some clubs lose players to play higher shield cricket which is understandable, and when they come back the are back to 3 points.

A lot to digest, some clubs will benefit and prosper from it, while others will die. One thing that becomes certain is, signing a player now becomes even more critical to make sure you have the right mix because the days of offering someone the opportunity to get better are done if they are not an automatic walk up start in your 1’s

Will Banthorpe be a 3 point player for you boys?

Hypothetically anyone coming back to your junior club from Premier , Subbies or VTCA is a 1 pointer.

However if they stopped by another DVCA club in between they become a 3 pointer.

My opinion is once you become a 1 point player you should always hold that status.

The whole thing is a mess and it will actually be to the detriment of the comp holding and recruiting good cricketers

M.simpson is a grub worst player ive ever played against and worse bloke glad his gone new gonna be way better off with out that grubby dog
