Bowling Boots

Hi
I'm considering for christmas to get a pair of bowling boots.
What does everyone think about them?
Are they worthwhile overall?
What benefits?
What pair should I buy? (i was looking as the Asics Gel 8 for 64)
And lastly.... i have heard people down the club talking about "cutting the toe" out on the boot what does that mean ?

Re: Bowling Boots

its a fast bowler thing, so you dont slam or crunch your toe into the front of the boot every time you land on it? almost releving the pressur put on it

Re: Bowling Boots

Cutting the toe, means cutting a hole around the toe area of boot. Years ago you'd see quite a few players with a bit of 'sock' poking through the hole, but it seems less common these days.

I find that keeping the nail short helps a little, although I tend to have a black nail pretty much all year round.

As for boots, it's a personal thing. I don't like them as I find them uncomfortable and cumbersome, others swear by them.

Re: Bowling Boots

I've always had a tendancy to go over on my ankle a lot so have sworn by them!

I currently have the Adidas Hi Cut boots. Very good.

Although I supplied the Nike ones to someone and they are superb quality.....if a little expensive!

Re: Bowling Boots

its all about personal preference.

i dont like bowling in high cuts, i bowl in the gel advance 2's from last year.
they are a good pair of shoes.

but in all honesty, try them all out because you may like something completely different from the norm.
