Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

I didnt play in either As or Bs due to work, but it sounds like we were close. The A's team is never settled and the far majority don't turn up to training which obviously doesnt help.

B's are just awful.

Its the season break and Country Week is not far away so what are people's thoughts about the squad??? If every player was available what do people think it would be???

Thats only 11 players mate so you would need a full squad. Very biased with your selection of McKimmie.

My squad: Matt Giri, Matt Sobey, Lachie Ford, Jamie Allan, Andrew Brindley, Darren Hinck, Clint Aldridge, Lenny Watson, Jarrod Milsom, Rhys Ford, Matt Culvenor, Paul Fraser and Daniel Christmas.

better to have a keeper that knows which end of the bat to hold add Hinck and Milsom to mine and you get a squad

I would also add Steve Becker to my squad, not sure how I overlooked him. Maybe because he hasnt played a lot this season.

Thing is McKimmie is not always his clubs keeper is he? Wasnt last season as Carmichael did bit also didnt he?

That was only because he was away

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

andrew lovett from newstead is the best glovemen in the league.
he would be my keeper.

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

I think Drew Brindley could/should and would hold down the keepers gloves?

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

ok yeah fair call with brindley.
he would defernatly be in the team.
but i doubt that he will play.
never commited to any of this stuff before i dont think!?

I dont think he would commit either, but I think he would have to be the best keeper in the comp? Some of his takes and stumpings are just amazing.

yeah he would be the best keeper.
but out of the others that would play,
i would say Lovett from newstead should be the glovemen.
:)

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

What a disgrace that the CDCA has voted to pay each player and scorers, managers etc to receive $5 each day to pay for lunch!

Add that up over the course of the week, then throw in the cost of the hats, bus and they even want to buy them shirts.

That money comes straight out of the pockets of the clubs and it is a disgrace that it is given to blokes so they can play a week of cricket.

If people want to play, fine, but let them pay for it themselves.

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

what the hell are you talking about you peanut? you need to get a life and get over it! There are a lot of bigger things going on in the world. pull your head in, and try and support the league instead of bagging it. grow up!

That's funny I thought this thread was about the CDCA not about bigger things going on in the world?

My mistake.

And the league wasting hundreds of dollars of the clubs money so some school teachers and students and anyone else not working can go and play a week of country week cricket is a disgrace.

It only happens so a little group of sad blokes (most of whom don't even play) can stroke their egos for a week and pretend they are elite cricketers.

country week is a great thing. it gives local players (especially the kids) a chance to play at a higher level and improve their cricket. instead of bagging it and the the players who participate in it, how about supporting it. it's an easy thing to sit back and bag something, rather than embracing it and having a go i suppose.

There has to be an incentive for players to give up a week of work and getting a hat and shirt plus lunch is not that much money for the league.

This is the ultimate week of cricket for cricketers in country cricket. To test themselves against the best cricketers in other leagues.

Your kind of backward thinking is what is holding back the CDCA from becoming a professional and well respected league. Need to think further ahead and not about how things were done in the past.

Looking at last years squad I dont see many teachers and students in the team, many have given up their time and accumulated holidays. Better do some research before shooting off your gob.

Re: Castlemaine and District Cricket Association

where are you JANDO your players continue to leave ????

tim hobbs has quit and moved to BRIDGEWATER

I hear on the grapevine Andrew Hewitt and Cam Parker cleared and now playing with the red hats

As for you keepemhonest or is it howstupidareyou Country week is an honour and anyone has played would agree. $ 5 for lunch, a hat and a shirt is the least the cdca can offer.
One premiership and 5 runners up, not to mention a divsion 2 and division 3 flag to get the association back with the big boys.
It is the best experience and the best cricket to play in.
if we are concerned by small incentives then our league would have serious problems.
