Changes for Season 2?

Changes for Season 2?

I'm not planning to have much of a break between seasons to keep the interest up so we need to get onto this asap.

We don't just want to follow everything BigFooty does so our rule/competition changes don't have to be the same at all.

Some changes to consider:

# A Salary Cap and player contracts - This was talked about before this season and is something that i would like to introduce if a feasible method was worked out. I have no idea how it could be done so i need help if this is going to happen.

# Trading between sides - The system we used preseason didn't work. It needs a complete overhaul. Once again i need suggestions for a suitable system to use.

# Expansion - Fairly likely to happen. I'll post more details when we have worked them out.

All other suggestions are welcome.

Great move Jolldo. We need to make this comp the No.1.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Mmm for the salary cap give teams a set starting amount to spend.

All rookies (People who havn't played a game) could maybe be signed for $50,000.

For Batsmen, every 100 runs they make could and $10,000 to their price.

For bowlers, every wicket may add $2000.

Do you think this would work?

This way, the better players will be adding $$ to their value and are therefore more expensive to buy.

Suggestion 1

Anything Frodo mentions is to be completely overlooked.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

id be worth millions.........

nah i recon the team names are crap we need aussie names.........my opinion

Re: Changes for Season 2?

It may very well have been my idea about salaries...:)

I reckon Vcash would be a good system to use, that way money would actually be an influencing factor rather than a useless number. And players just choose their own prices, easy enough IMO

Do you have anything else to add?

You were one of the people that wanted the salary cap originally.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Yes, I still believe a salary cap is a good idea.

But I believe a better idea is to not listen to anything Frodo has to say

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Salary cap is a great Idea.

Do it like they do on the AFL Team Manager game on bigfooty. I'll post more on it tommorrow.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

I'm not as experienced as you guys, but how would a salary cap work and how would you moderate it on this?

AFL Team Manager is a manager style game using AFL players. However, I think that we can use the systems that they do in this league.

OK, basically, the system is a bidding system. Each team bids on the uncontracted players. Opposition teams are allowed a maximum of three bids each on other teams uncontracted players. Then the club can choose whether to match the bid or let the player go. Obviously, the players who are more sought after will have higher bids put on them, making them a higher price. Then, we have a salary cap so a captain needs to balance his list appropriately with high profile and expensive players and cheap rookies. We could also have contracts with amount of seasons signed for.

So a bid could be - Jolldo - $250,000 - 2 seasons.

Then this could be matched by Jolldo's team or he could be let go.

What do we think?

Here is the thread which we did this years AFL Team Manager bidding in. It has all the rules in the OP. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=494225

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Love it Loopy, that seems to be the way to go at the moment. @|

To add to that, obviously players with bonus points will be worth more money.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Also those of you guys who want changes to the bonus point system this is the time and place to speak up.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Ok. My problems with it:

- It gives winning teams a bigger advantage.
- It doesn't reward activity.

My solutions:
- Don't give out points to the winners.
- Penalise those who don't post, instead of rewarding those who do.
- Give out a certain amount of bonus point to each team, that captain could then distribute to people who they think deserve it.

Just suggestions guys. Don't like 'em just say. I like constructive critisism.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Against the salary cap it would cause to much hassle one would feel.

Like the idea of expansiion to include asmany people as possible on bigcricket and other sites.

Need to keep the whole of bigcricket going, not sure how we could include something to keep posting going on the whole site. BUt would like it implemented somehow.

Also Dirk Kuyt if ya got nothing positive to add dont say it. At least frodo has a crack and is willing to put in time and effort and suggest changes.

I think this a great idea Mousey, it then up to the captains to reward their respective active posters.

As for the salary cap, I think it is a good idea but I am completely against the 2 options listed. The earlier option is more a monetary reward system rather than a salary cap while the problem with loopy's idea is that the player has no choice in the matter. This is okay when the players are not real like in the AFL Team Manager game but not for this competition. Basically I feel just give each team a certain amount of $$ to distribute amongst players and this is linked to VCash. A reward system could come into it where the winner of the test comp gets and extra so-much to their salary cap for the following season and similarly with the one-day comp.
