Changes for Season 2?

Re: Changes for Season 2?

Agree with Doggies in 08, except the winner should get any higher salary cap as it makes the comp uneven.

I completely agree with Mousey about the rewards points system, it gives teams who keep the game alive a chance, as there could be teams who don't get into it as much as others, but are winning, and the team who is keeping the comp alive is losing.

Really, really dont want a salary cap.
I guess if each team was given a certain amount of bonus points to distribute amongst its players this could effectively work as a salary cap anyway. So for instance if every team was given 20 bonus points the Magic could offer PlayerX 5 bonus points to his batting and the player may accept this and jump ship if he was only going to recieve 1-2 at his original club? Thoughts on this as an idea?

Yeah I really like that idea, that will definitely influence decisions as well rather than a fake money system

Re: Changes for Season 2?

The salary and contracts and all seems a great idea, but then think about it, we don't have that much money in the flow atm. The Bcash with each person is very low atm to hold any kind of a respectable contracts or stuff. Something like that is only possible, if at the beginning of bids, all team managers are given a respectable amount of cash, and that would add the flow to the BCash market.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

This needs thinking about.

Giving bonus points as incentives....mmm........do we end up with an elitist group of players? Won't that piss others off?

I'm thinking out aloud here...forgive the ramble.

I think we need to sustain the four teams and expand the competition. loyalty should be rewarded, rather than the luck of the sim. posting should also be rewarded. maybe captains should get a bp, as appreciation for their work???

So what does that leave us with? Well I guess those that are happy to stay with a club should be able to do so.

Let's say those that want to leave a club can nominate for a draft, alongside any nOObs. Then each player can be auctioned........mmm.
Each club gets 15 minus players on list, multiplied by $500K
Minimum price of $400k a player.
Should players in draft be able to nominate their type?

Once draft is over then all nOObs cost $500k.

If a captain delists a player he should be penalised for a) drafting crap or b) not motivating the guy to post. So the replacement is bought at $500K, but for the remainder of the season plays with -2 bonus points.

Seems simple enough....but probably needs thinking about a bit more.

Hmm, I am interested in this line of thinking.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

So in other words, the bonus points are a mixture of a transfer fee and wages. (like a player transfer in the EPL).

So if I offered doggiesin08 2 BP's to his batting for 09 but then Biggie offered him 3 BP's, he could accept Biggie's offer and join the Wizards.

I'm not against this at all. Sounds pretty good actually. A lot more simplistic than a complicated salary cap system. Great idea.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

The thing with doggies idea is what happens when a new player signs up during the season? They would be on the base points and there would be no incentive for them to be recruited over someone already in the side who would have more bonus points.

I like the idea doggies, it just needs a bit of work. @|

I like it.

I guess the skipper would have X amount of BPs to play with then it would up to him and his VC's as to wether or not player X was worth X amount of BPs.

Yes I like X, so shut up. :D

Re: Changes for Season 2?

If they stay active and post then the captain could give them some BP's. It also keeps them active. Then the teams fight for the most active players. At the end of a season the captain can take BP's off players and give them to others, based on posting performances. If a player with BP's becomes inactive he would lose them all at the end of the season and be delisted.

You could start off with say... 5 bonus points. The captain could give one to himself, one to his vice and share the other three with his best posters. Then those 5, who are active, have all the points and won't be delisted. There are still 10 others who don't have bonus points that, if they become inactive, can be delisted.

It's a good system, as long as not too many BP's are distributed.

Re: Changes for Season 2?

great to get positive feedback. it needs work obviously and i don't really know how the sim works with bonus points (does it just make your average go up by 1?).

Dirk I don't really understand what you mean by a transfer fee? Its just an open market. If you offered me 2 BPs and Bigman offered me 3BPs (I'm just forgetting contract legnths here) I may well accept Bigmans offer. You would then have the 2 BPs you were alloting to me up your sleeve to offer to someone else.

In relation to new players Jolldo it doesn't really matter them being on a base points for their first season. It may even turn out that some teams have BPs spare during the season and so they may be able to better sign on new players.

Well I would say if a player is delisted mid season, say with 2 BP's, then the captain gets those BP's back and the player loses them. So then the capatin has 2 BP's to use to try and recruit a replacement, and the delisted player goes back to default averages. Obviously these BP's would be reset at the end of each season

yep that was my line of thinking. Don't want a player accumulating them over multiple seasons.
