City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Congratulations to the child ( there I go again thimble ) for his man of the match performance in the trees are green 20/20 final which got the billionaires over the line against Merl's Beach Boys.

Just like he did in the big dance against the thimbles he threw the nappy off to reveal that he can play on the big stage unlike his beloved Saints and was a stand out performance in a great game of cricket.

Let's hope for a repeat performance this Saturday when the thimbles can well and truly be sown up.

Merl over and out

Merl, you still owe me a point.

Perhaps the new year will see a more positive outlook.

Jimmy

Have fixed it up I corrected it in one spreadsheet but not the next one.

The world doesn't have to be one big positive universe it takes all types to make it up.

Still not explanation or recognition of how the America's Cup like performance to get the scores in the paper eventuated. Was it your persistence,Merl's long winded bagering or did Barrack and co just do what they were elected for and get clubs off their collectine backsides to give Joe public a very simple solution like 99% of the other Metropoloitan Melbourene crcket Associations do each and every week!!!!

Merl

Clock. I think you're being a tad harsh on the old chap. Merl, you'll always have an ally in the diplomatic Uncle Mick. Fact is though, you were starting to become tedious and monotonous with your assessments of Congress and even drew the crowd favourite out of hibernation for his sole post of the season (which is a credit to yourself). However, with the amount of time you seem to have I would've thought you'd be better served to get proactive about the Association you hold so dear to your heart and put up your hand to assist in making sure Congress are getting it right. It's easy to keep potting everyone on the forum without offering some assistance. Alas, they've conceded that your point was valid and have subsequently delivered an early Xmas present via the Sunday Herald Sun.

Uncle Mick, Dec 20, 2010 Report

Uncle Mick

My good BCF buddy thanks for your Churchill/Kissinger like statesman like advise and my mistake re the tippimg.

Merl is not a young man and the older you get the less tolerant you get and Merl does not tolerate fools ( see above )
I have served on Congresses when Uncle Mick and most of these whipper snippers were not even a glint in their father's eyes.
I have friends who have served on Congress in recent times and even members of this forum have been at the coal face and quite frankly it is not rocket science.

You are the only one to give the old boy credit for finally after 5 or 6 rounds to see something in the Sunday herald sun was it that difficult.

You claim to have some experience with maintaining your club's website Can it be that difficult.

Condelezza was paid I am nort sure if Hiliary is paid but I do know there has been an offer to the Association for paid assistance that for a small cost would certainly improve it.

I have spent my time on Congress and was a good operator, but I am not the current holder of a Congress position and if you put your hand up to do the job put up or shut up!!!!

As I say again I will have my say on this forum knowing what the rules are and how to stay within them. Not all the shooky La Las will be able to stand the heat in the kitchen and will take their bat and ball home to play french cricket but as you and I know they come and go but at the end of the day I know I can get on here and get a balanced view from you and be given good advise when needed and justified rather than smart alec two faced hypocritical pot shots!!!!!

Merl over and out

Merlot, indeed your continual lobbying for scores in the Sunday papers has finally seen action. Like yourself, time on congress can be quite a talk fest... action is a rare victory.

Condaleeza (non paid) with some help from Jimmy was responsible for paper scores. This should continue for the rest of the season.

Yes, it would be boring if we all thought the same way but I think that some of the general disenchantment and chagrin with Merl we have been reading (I know you don't care) is to do with the constant negativity and pot shots. A bit of positivity back the other way would offer some balance and re-assure that you are indeed a thoughtful and interested CMCA follower unlike a couple of other twits who have been on here in the past purely to slander.

I will now steel myself in prep for response and hopefully this may even draw Archie out of hibernation to "have a crack".

Merl u can take your rules and stick it, i am not in this comp for prizes just a bit of fun so continue to dismiss me from your little important be all end all role on here because as the great man said 'they can take our lives, but they will never take our feedom' so every week i will continue to give my tips and i will continue to slot myself into the correct position on the result of those tips as i have done

Jimmy

No need to steel yourself Merl is a fair man but has a certain amount of negativity within the old boy.As stated ad nausem I don't think it is rocket science!!!Surely my volunterring of my precious time to run the various tipping contests shows I am prepared to put in for my BCF buddies who are prepared to follow a few simple rules!!!

Yes you are right I don't care about the sticks and stones brigade, as I won't be silenced.I will give credit where it is due eg Brett and trees are green, but having served on so many Congresses over many years I know how to operate and do not suffer fools.

Archie had some health issues in the sub continent and may need Julia Gillard's broad band assistance to get him back on line but I am please to report that we did catch up for our annual/weekly Christmas and New Year frothy at the local watering hole.

Am looking forward to the weekend but Uncle Mick's weather man/lady is predicting some action from Huey but not enough to interupt the Billionaires disposing of the thimbles I hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evening All,

It seems the french crcket rules must be different to the Marylebone Crcket Club world wide rules followed by most cricketing nations and our local associations.

Sooky La La you pulled up stumps, declared, walked from the wicket,Merl didn't even have to raise the index figure to send you on the way you were on your bike for the around the bay in a day with your wife on the back of the tandem and the two kids in the pull along stroller!!!!!

The only person interested in your tips will be you and as my good friend Peter Parker said get over it and to use the old line quoted on many many occassions have a look in the scorebook

Happy new year to all the forumsters, let the games begin with some good cricket and some good banter.

Tips for rnd 7 and some of Simone's wisdom.
Longy
Golfers - Ommies are in big trouble and facing the big R
Royals - Have more pride than the boys from vandal park. Will the Judge be back?
Good ole Two blues - Sorry Hales, not convinced just yet
Uniting - as Gough W said, '' Its time ''
Beach Boys - was impressed with their 20/20 effort, not convinced about the panthers either
Hoops - JGG back at the home, will slot in nicely at 4 or 5, the X factor and will make a huge impact, [ equal prem fav's ]

Wooly
Uniting - the Sandy boys still away at the retreat
Hoops - full sqaud plus injuries are all good, will start their run
Wallet Park - just going along nicely and ready to tune their vocals
RSL - one day specialists
Royals - the Cluden boys are in the same retreat as the gold caps
Heighters - now know they are up to it and will play finals, the one day format also suits with Lockie to make big runs

Merl, have been impressed with your views and also your relentless pursuit of excellence during the year, keep it up old chap as we say at Lords. If only a small percentage of your ideas get through to congress, then thats something.
Clocker seems to be in need of a good holiday as his stuff towards the end was as we say '' such a clocker ''
Lets hope the god of thunder is in a good mood for Saturday.

To all you CMCA people, get out and get on the current junior rep sides which are playing this week and next.
A clean sweep yesterday, and a few wins today sets all the boys up for a good start to the tournements.
Some great cricket being played, so if clubs have some boys representing the CMCA, get down and show some support.;)
Good to see at least a couple of CMCA execs at the games yesterday, also the fastest finger in the south was also seen.
Hopefully some good coverage on Jimmy and Triggers radio show will be forthcoming.:D

Happy New Year to all bloggers. Very disconcerting that birds continue to fall from the sky all around the world considering we are quickly approaching the alleged end of time; namely 2012.

The New year tends to create some scenarios. Omega, Mackie & West Bentleigh are fighting for their Longmuir existence, whilst the Royals and the golfers look on anxiously knowing that another loss could place their respective clubs in jeopardy.

Omega have had everything go wrong. Injury, loss of personnel but a new year and a positive outlook could change a few things for them. They must stand up this week, otherwise they could be contemplating the lunches at Hampton United and Aspendale Edithvale next season.

The Golfers are winning games and getting more and more experience in their young ones and it is slowly starting to pay dividends.Go Leroy.

The Centrals come up against the giant killers of 2010 in the Spiders. They are like recovering alcoholics, occasionally falling off the wagon and reverting to their irresponsible batting collapses, but I suspect that they have detoxed themselves over XMAS and will be ready to take on a surprising Centrals.Or have they? Based on the Menatalist support for the grumpy old man I fear they may have over indulged. Time will tell. This should an interesting match and dare I say it, a 12 point game for both clubs. May will be a big loss for the Sky Blues (if what I am told is true that he is or has left for the UK) but they have some talented youngsters who look very good. A lot of pressure on Messers Gold, Amoore, Dwyer and McMillan.

A mouth watering encounter between the Juggernaut and the heir apparents in Uniting. Fresh from an improbable victory in the 20/20 tournament they will be full of confidence. Hopefully both sides will have full lists to choose from and set up what could be a Grand Final preview. It has been quite a while when there has been such a cluster of teams battling for second spot and no doubt the Juggernaut understand the importance of this match.

Elwood will be smarting losing the 20/20 final. Their fielding and bowling was exceptional and demonstrated how important this facet is in the game of cricket nowadays. The Panthers have done well and sit equal 2nd in 7th spot, but their next three matches against Elwood, Uniting and the Hoops will tell the story of how far they have developed. This week is a must win for them if they want to stay in the finals hunt.It will not be an easy job as Elwood have made the beach their fortress of sorts.

The Hoops look ominous and seem to have rectified a number of their batting short comings from last season. They will enjoy beating up on a dispirited Mackie who really have nothing to play for other than avoid relegation. It just seems that if you get Buddha then you just run through the rest.

The Royals meet the Cowboys and only God knows what can be expected in this match. This game could be over at 3.00 pm based on some of the performances from both teams. At times the Royals have been as impressive as the Australian top order, and yet when their biorhythms are right they compete well. The anticipated return of the Judge should add some steel to the batting order, but they cannot expect too much from him. I suspect sleep is just a distant memory for him. The Cowboys, well have had a real shocker this season, but they are still above Omega. The Cowboys have managed to pull of the impossible wins in the past and who knows if they can change a few things they may claw their way from the relegation zone and shape the finals.
WOOLNOUGH
Uniting have not exactly set the world on fire in Woolnough, and yet again I have overated them. They have tricky game against the Juggernaut and a loss here could jeopardize their finals aspirations. Uniting will not want to finish 4th and really have to start stepping up if they are going to be serious contenders.
The Weststars will be fuming at their loss to the Heighters and will be looking to punish the inconsistent Hoops at the wind swept carbon monoxide filled fields of Hurlingham Park.
The Wash Ups will celebrate yet another victory after taking care of the Kookas. No club has really challenged the Wash Ups as they go along their Merry way. Tex is enjoying writing their newsletter recounting victories in all grades. It seems that the Wash Ups are really enjoying their cricket this season and have put the horrors of last season behind them. They have added new meaning to the term hearing the ‘fat lady sing’.
The RSL have bounced back with three consecutive wins and all of a sudden there is a ray of sunshine appearing with respect to a possible finals spot. They should overcome a very disappointing Hampton United who would be feeling very alone playing in the strange surrounds of Elsternwick Park.
Cluden meet the winless Royals who are facing the prospect of playing in Quiney Shield next season if they do not get a move on.Chelsea Heights just motoring along with a very good balance team and yet to be defeated along with the Wash Ups. What a pity we have to wait until Round 11 to watch these two leviathans face off.

Evening All,

Adam just viewed the award winning youtube show where the judge is pretty confident he will march straight back in with no training after getting the all clear from Mrs Judge, is her name Judy????A bit disappointing there are still idiots out there ringing the judge, the Field Marshall ,etc maybe they could ring 04merlot to let off a bit of steam!!!!!!

Great to see Merl is Joel garnering a bit of support with followers jumping on board the Merlot Army which could grow to Barmy Army proportions much to the time piece and hammers annoyance.I might pen a few tunes to sing along to!!!

Positive Merl would love to get the dog and grandchild out for a stroll but winikipop just where are the rep games being played?
I did hear a rumour the Phil Arnold Shield was being played at Uncle Mick oval but alas couldn't find anything jumping out at me on the famous website.

I see Barrack is getting out amomgst the constituents by pulling on the BBQ blue shirt where the Golden greek and the oasisless Botts will be graced by his presence in the big Wooly game at infested park on the highway according to the time piece!!!The ground seems to be in more strife than the politicians party after some obnoxious weed made more obnoxious weeds!!!!!

Merl's tips

Omega on the back of Slim
ANA with the judge to top score as the cowboys run out of bullets
Merl's ants to continue their good one day form

Oasisless Botts mob unlikely to loose two in a row even with Barrack umpiring!!!
Wallet Park have too much credit for a very quiet Uncle Mick's mob

Merl's original very own Cluden to give the royal court jesters another spanking
Merl's new very own Heighters to cut the sword's mob down to size.

Bobby Dazzler

billionaire threes can this club do anything wrong
panthers to leave the beach boys washed up
wallet park twos
