In longmuir it looks as though BU and East Sandy will fill the top 2 spots, whilst 3rd and 4th looks likely to be contested by 4 teams Carnegie Sth, Kingston Heath, Mackie and Le Page. Le Page would most likely need to win all 4 games to ensure a position. For me Carnegie and Mackie will fill the last 2 remaining spots. Would be interested to hear how everyone else precieves the season panning out.

Spiders run home
Chelsea Heights, Juggernaut, Beach Boys, Mackie. 51 points.

The game against the Beach boys could become a pivotal match for the Spiders, and then followed by their encounter against Mackie which could end up as a mini final for one or both.

Golfers run home
Le Page, Mackie, Juggernaut, Uniting.

Very tough run home, They could reasonably expect 2 wins but must beat the Juggernaut. Not sure that will happen. 39 points.

Mackie run home
Uniting, Golfers, West Bentleigh, Spiders.

Barring the Uniting game, they really have three winnable games. Future is definitely in their own hands. 39 points.(best scenario)

Le Page run home

Golfers, Uniting, Sky Blues & Juggernaut.

I think the Panthers have missed the boat. Dropped too many games early on they were expected to win. 27 points.

Hoops run home

Beach Boys, Royals, Chelsea Heights, West Bentleigh.

Should win all four games and end up with 39 points and will end up with a reasonable percentage. Warm favourite to scrape into 4th Spot.

In Woolnough 5 teams seem to have skipped away with 1 point seperating 1st from 5th. Moorabbin West, Washington Park, Omega, Aspendale Gardens and Bentleigh Uniting all in the mix, once again a credit to the strength of Uniting. Some big games to be played in the remaining 4 rounds with a number of games involving 2 of the top 5 sides against each other. Ill put my neck out on the line and suggest it will be Washington Park and Aspendale Gardens filling the top 2 spots and Omega and Uniting to round out the 4 with Moorabbin West to miss, but with the tightness up the top of the table any one of the top 5 could be the unlucky one.

Westars run home
Omega, Uniting, Beach Boys, Cluden.

The Westars humiliated the much vaunted Uniting batting line up last season, so there is no fear there. 52 points

Ommies run home
Westars, Wash up’s, Juggernaut, Uniting. 51 points

Tough end to the season with a possible cut throat match against Uniting in the final round.

Washups run home
Uniting, Omega, West Bentleigh, Hampton United. 57 points (could even pinch an outright against Hampton United or West Bentleigh).

Will finish on top easily with 57 points. Team to beat for the flag.

Aspendale Garden run home

Hampton United, Cluden, Highett West, Hoops.

Easy run home and not sure that is the best preparation for a tough finals campaign. Manders may end up on manslaughter charges against some of these attacks. Could pinch an outright if they put their heads down. 57 points.

Bentleigh Uniting run home

Wash Up’s, Westars, Royals, Omega.

Big test this week for Uniting. They are the bully boys of the competition and enjoy beating up weaker teams. Unfortunately they seem to crumble when they meet any form of resistance.Wash ups will give them something to contemplate this week. They should scramble two wins and end up on 45 points. The last match against the Ommies could be an interesting encounter with a spot in the finals possibly at stake and possibly a few precious reputations.

Match starts at 11 am. Good luck to coach Bruce Haley, skipper Luke Manders and all the lads.

The U16 Beitzel team are playing their semi-final versus Ringwood today Thursday 12th Jan at Town Park, Croydon, Mel 50 K4, match starts at 11 am.

The remaining semi-finals are all on Friday 13th January, starting at 10 am.
The U14 Allen Shield team is playing Ringwood at Silcock Reserve, Croydon Mel 51 A1
The U12 Mitchell team is playing Box Hill at Peteson St Res No1 ("Highett West")
The U12 Browne team is playing Eastern at Bricker Reserve.

Good luck to all the boys in their finals campaign.

The U14 Nolan Cup team lost their quarter-final on Wednesday to Federal, so are now out of the finals race, but well done to the team on getting to the quarter-finals stage.
 
Hardly call our second X1 bullyboys Clocker. You just play each weak to the best of your ability. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It stands to reason we might battle against the 1st XI of strong clubs like Wash Park, Omega and Moorabbin West. West destoyed us in last years semis but to be honest we are very fortunate to have a current level of depth that allows us to be competitive at this level. A very tough ask. None of the other 2nd X1s in Wooly are in the mix for finals including some traditionally strong clubs such as East Sandy, ANA & Union. Some good cricketers and some strong teams getting around in Woolnough at the moment.

And precious reputations? Maybe I’m missing something here but would those who have earned a reputation via years of achievement at the top level such as Manakis P, Manakis C, McGaw, Delac etc have a reputation tainted by virtue of a Woolnough home and away game in their ‘twilight’ years. Personally I don’t think so
 
I'd just like to say how nice it is for us to be discussed as a possible contender for Finals rather than relegation. Been a tough couple of years for us as it usually is for all teams that come up. The boys are now starting to grow up and fulfill the potential that they all have.
We realise that we have a long way to go, and by no means should we think that we're better than what we are. All we can do is to try and do the basics correctly, and look after our own game.
The watershed game for us was the Carnegie South game where we were all embarassed by our batting display. Kudos to the Spiders for the way they bowled and fielded, but we went down without a whimper. Since then we've shown a lot more determination in our batting.
Massive few games coming up for us. Our goal as it is each game is to play the best that we can, and the result will take care of itself.

Yes yes Chooka you have incredible depth at your club and you can only beat the opposition that you come up against. Everyone has good days and bad days etc we can go on with the clichés all day.
Fact: Last season your Woolnough lads lost to Chelsea Heights, Westars (twice) and to the Wash Up’s. This season you have already lost to the Botanists with the top teams beckoning. Just making an observation that when it gets a little willing a few of the ‘names’ seem to disappear.
I was following on from ‘Old Game’ and his rumor, hence the ‘precious reputations’ quip. Maybe they will move on maybe they won’t. Only they know if they decide to look at coaching at other clubs or being the highly paid import where they can make a few dollars. I somehow doubt it as most of them have kids playing at the club, but you never know the power of the green eyed monster.

A little birdie tells me alls not well at commonwealth bank park with a few of the old stagers whose career had a line put through it by coach Lalor when he arrived last year. Watch at season end movement is on the cards for some

Reasonable depth at present Clock but far from incredible. Won’t last forever and as mentioned keeping your 2s competitive in Woolnough is a very tough task. Our 3s doing ok in a pretty good Quiney grade also but if you get a few absences, such as the few rounds post xmas, then they also start to feel the pinch. Well beaten by Omega’s 2s last start.

Must say I have not heard these rumblings that Old Game talks about. Some of those ‘old stagers’ are playing 2s at their request. I would hope however that some of the young blokes who have already had taste of Longy action would be keen to keen to get their spot back. Certainly no lines put through any names. Players come and go so I guess we will have to wait and see what happens in the off-season.

What can’t be in disputed is that whatever selection policy Lalor is using seems to work. A run of close to 40 unbeaten games across all forms. If a player did have sh#s about non-selection it’s pretty hard to argue with those figures.
 
Clocker you seem so sure of movement, how's this for a idea? Let's put a wager on this??? I bet you that no one of any high distinction or standing at bucc who has given great years of service will leave BUCC for another club, your obviously saying all that I just mentioned but on the other side of the coin that someone will leave.
Not going to give you odds, but not narrowing down to one player for You, so it is wide open.

chronicling these events so in five years time they are not forgotten. My point is that members in your Woolnough team go missing when it it gets a little hard. Fact are facts.The best way to shut me up is to go on an win the whole shooting match since you have all this depth and experience. Not too much to ask for is it?. ;)

Geez Brett, I'm not sure you would pass comprehension in English. I'm certainly not sticking up for Clocker, he fights his own battles well enough, but i think you need to read the article a little more carefull. "Maybe they will Maybe they won't. Only they know". He is saying he doesn't know what will happen, only the players know. It's pretty clear.
 
Well he may have cleverly worded it, he has helped build more speculation or added fuel to fire that old game created. As clocker is a long time poster his comments hold more weight then a newbie, but then he went on about chasing dollar 'maybe or maybe not' talks about been imports else where 'maybe or maybe not'........his non sense/game playing whether intentional or not is so far off the mark. Little bit of blind shooting going on in a act of desperation to taint or spoil a good thing 'maybe I am right or maybe I am not' just because he throws a maybe or a maybe not does not cover up his point or message he is sending, I am on the front foot saying its fine if he wants too or anyone else wants to talk about departures just be prepared for me to hit them with a put there money where there mouth is request, if I believed something do strongly then I would put my hard earned on it, no one will go any where mark My words!!!

Golf, I'm glad that Kingston Heath are starting to get the success they've worked hard for so long. I've always enjoyed playing against you guys and have had some great Grand Final battles over the years too, unfortunately you guys are 2-1 up on that score! You're investment in the kids have provided a good model to follow.
