Nice to be missed so much that a new thread has been started, the Timepiece has stepped into my grave that I was very nearly in myself and the Burgermeister still thinks I am someone else who has accepted some new role and had a pup ban imposed all very interesting but nothing of what I have been through in the last month or so.

Merl has had major surgery and the old boy is a shadow of his former self as he slowly recuperates.I struggle to turn the old pc on let alone get the acid tongue into over drive!

Oasis less Bottsy thanks for being one of the few to miss the old boy and Jimmy and Timepiece don't make the old fella any sicker we don't have a Juggernaut anymore the Bills are the real deal and the timepiece thimbles ran out of steam very early last year!

Uncle Mick and Vinnie my apologies for not providing updates and a final result in the Big Mack Photo identikit Footy tipping but it took me some time given my delicate condition to to go back over the rounds.As best as I could and even with Vinnie not tipping some rounds I believe the final score was

I am open to queries but don't see it as any big deal as Vinnie finished in front unlike his beloved pies who got two left feet again in the big dance.Thanks for giving us one of your coaches for the Go Dees who will take off next year!

Archie sends his regards from the sub continent where he hopes to send his usual boat load of recruits to our fair shores if he can get over the mountain of red tape and paperwork.

At this stage I will be an irregular contributer to the BCF but it is good to see it is up and firing with many new personel involved, even Peter Parker has got out of his web!

Good luck to all teams and players for the season and while Merl is a bit down he certainly is not out yet and Bergermeister you would have more luck finding Merl at St Vincents but it is nice to see you still have your well off the track obsession driving you nuts.

17 so far have joined the tipping comp. Vinnie,Sugar,Merlot and Spongebob have not lodged. Still have a few hours so get on board. Le Page have firmed in the market and are now favourites to beat the Hoops which has drifted.Amazing what one player can do to the odds.Book closed on Uniting and Beach boys, whilst there is very little interest in the Cowboys. Mackie are thereabouts in the market as many have stuck true. The Juggernaut after drifting has firmed to be clear favourite based on market rumours of a surprise addition to their list. Good luck to all.

The Longmuir Shield season opened up with Round One seeing the favourites on the right side of the ledger in most matches.
Brighton Union began in fine style as after losing a wicket to the third ball of the season, makeshift opener Michael Cove and new skipper Darian Kuzma lashed the Le Page Park attack. Cove smashed 80 and Kuzma 78 as the pair transformed 1/0 to 1/164 before they were dismissed within a few deliveries of each other. Stuart Scorgie and Con Pothitos added further quick runs and Union finished with a formidable 3/203.
The Panthers response was less than impressive as they quickly fell to 5/59. Glen Czosneck made an impressive 52 to restore respectability to the score but when he was dismissed at 6/113 it looked like it was game over but enter gun recruit Oshan Lasantha De Silva, who had other ideas. After an impressive bowling spell (2/45), De Silva fought tooth and nail to show that Le Page will be a dangerous opponent this season, playing some glorious shots in a breathtaking 68 to lead his team to within a whisker of an unlikely victory but with time running out De Silva was dismissed and the last three wickets fell for 7 runs to see Le Page come up short at 196 losing their final wicket on the last delivery of their allotted 40 overs.
New addition Chelsea Heights came up short against Mackie in their Longmuir Shield debut. The Machine posted a moderate 6/126 with reliable Craig Park guiding them though with an unbeaten 48 and The Heighters would have fancied themselves to chase the tally down but they collapsed badly with their top order being demolished and it was only a typically swashbuckling 42 from prize West Bentleigh recruit Anthony Reid that enabled them to reach 101. Whilst Reid was at the crease an amazing win seemed possible but once he went so did The Heighters chances of a first up win.
Reid’s brother Marc was able to lead his team West Bentleigh to a win over Hampton Central. Centrals collapsed early being 6/38 with Reid grabbing 3 early wickets but Nick “Double Cheeseburger” McMillan staged a great fight back making 51 and getting his team up to a useful 156. Reid (3/12) and Jason West (3/33) doing best with the ball.
West began well reaching 29 before their openers were dismissed in consecutive balls but Reid (20) and David Morgan added 67 to put their team in the box seat. Morgan went on with the job making 64 before being run out and then Brody Lawford (18*) and Brett Stevens (20*) did the rest to get the Sky Blues home with 4 overs to spare.
Elwood began their season in style with an easy win over Kingston Heath. The Golfers started slowly and when they tried to up the ante Woods spinner Robbie De Haan had all the answers spinning them out to take 5/27 and stalling the Heath’s innings at 6/111. New opener Sam “Goat” Tee played aggressively making 41 and it was all a bit of a doddle for The Beach Boys who are feeling some good vibrations already.
East Sandringham also began on a winning note recovering from 4/42 to manage 7/157 against Bentleigh ANA thanks to Dan Corp (55) and Glenn Phelan (53). ANA looked to be in good shape at 3/88 before they made a complete hash of the run chase losing 7/41 to be all out for 129 with overs left in the bank. Phelan completed a great all-round day showing plenty of class to bag 3/15 whilst youngster Mitch Strahan (3/15) also was impressive.
Sunday saw Bentleigh Uniting unfurl their 2010/2011 premiership pennant and then it was business as usual as skipper Glenn Lalor made a brilliant 93 adding 85 with Ash Russell (25) to ensure a healthy total of 193 and then Uniting kept Carnegie South to 168 with Damian Britt (3/35) picking up the key Redbacks wickets at vital moments to ensure tyheir undefeated run continued.
Woolnough Shield saw Aspendale Gardens stamp themselves as a team to watch when they upset fancied WashingtonPark by 9 runs. The Gardeners new captain-coach Luke Manders showed why he was so sought after as he posted a match winning double of 76 and 5/27.
West Bentleigh posted a nice win over Cluden despite Josh Verlin’s so effort for The C’s making 85 out of their total of 134 whilst Moorabbin West, Cluden and Bentleigh Uniting were all very impressive in their first hit outs and it looks like it will be a very interesting season in the second tier competition.
Hampton United president David Bell produced the best bowling spell of the day grabbing 6/19 but his team went down to new club Bonbeach Tangy who experienced the sweet taste of victory in their inaugural CMCA game as did fellow new boys Melbourne Hellenic in both of their teams.

Good to see three former CMCA players playing together at St.Kilda.(Manning, Bychkov, Drummond) as well as former Royal, Steven Singh who managed to break into the Prahran 1sts as a fast bowler who can bat and his brother Michael who is also at Prahran. Young Supree and Weiss former Mackie and the Agar brothers representing McKinnon also playing at District clubs. Seems that the coaches have been doing something right. Well done to all concerned and hopefully they will rejoin the fold at a later stage.Apologies to anyone I have left out but let us know as it always good to see how these players develop.

A total of 30 that I could see. Great effort as you said Clock. The CMCA is a good breeding ground for cricketers.
 
The Cowboys started the season well with a very important win against the disappointing Centrals. Good to see Burger amongst the runs. Good pick up by the cowboys to nab former Royal Brodie Lawford. A lot of years were invested in him by the Royals so they will be bitterly disappointed to lose such a good prospect. Speaking of which the Royals failed again when the heat was put on them. Mick was right, never write off the Juggernaut! It could be long season down at Royal Park. Lepage and their new recruit lived upto expectations and nearly pulled off a remarkable victory. They will be a danger team for all the top teams. Chelsea Heights were welcomed to Longmuir and were generously given a very modest score to chase down. Unfortunately they imploded. God knows what they would have made if it had not been for Ant Reid. The Beach Boys had their regulation win, with the Golfers unable to post a competitive score to pressure the Beach Boys. Uniting was untroubled in defeating the Spiders. Lalor looked in ominous form coming out at 3 and took command. It could be a long year for the Spiders with their bowling attack which looked very pedestrian.

SPONGE BOB top scored for the very disappointing Wash Ups despite only recently making acquaintances with his bat. Look forward to your summary SB.
The Royals had a mental explosion chasing the Juggernauts modest 112. At 4/90 with Stuart Campbell and Matthew Lloyd (and that bloody annoying smirk) at the crease to come you would have closed your book. A lot of soul searching needs to be done at the Royals. Uniting toyed with Hampton Uniting defeating them easily, whilst Ivan and the Ommies had a very comfortable win against the Hoops. The Weststars were happy to get onto the field and dismissed all the doom and gloom predictions by easily overcoming Mick’s Kookas. Cluden were very disappointing with no other batsmen prepared to support Josh Verlin with his heroic innings of 85.

Good Call Jimmy. Andrew and Brendan McGuinness from Bentleigh Uniting have been playing Premier seniors for many years. Both have made 100s in the top grade with Andrew in particular a regular 1s player.

Units looked dangerous. Is Coles still playing 1s? handy bowler and only loyal bloke who didnt succumb to WB pressure.
LePage? Any truth the new lad has mates arriving there too?
 
Can anyone confirm the rumour I heard today that a certain prize recruit - gun fast bowler - at Chelseas Heights has broken his wrist?? Out till Xmas I hear. Would be disastrous if it were true...back to Woolnough perhaps??
