Good to see a fair turn out from all clubs yesterday watching some decent 20/20.Both CMCA teams did well with some serious big hitting from Backers and Richo for Uniting and Buddhs and Ice at Mackie. Not sure how anyone else feels but that white ball looks fantastic and much easier to pick up from a supporter point of view.It might be a different story after 72 overs though. Your apology for your absence yesterday is also noted 'Jimmy' as I hear you were breaking in a new couch and finalizing the terms of reference with respect to the use of the WIDE Screen.Keep it vague and ambigious.

Have to agree about the white ball. How'd the CMCA sides go?

Bentleigh Uniting just fell short against South Caulfield in the first final. Mackie beat Cavalliers and then faced off against Sth Caulfield in the final.
Sth Caulfield chased down the 152 they required. Disappointing for Mackie that they did not win it, but all had a good day in the end.Good experience to come up against other teams from other comps.

Under 21's would have missed Backers if he was smashin them for Uniting

The under 21s coped without Backers. DDCA made 7/176 off their 45 overs which the CMCA chased down with 4 wickets in hand and about 7 overs left.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

the standard of the twenty20 competition yesterday was a highlight for all involved within the association. Uniting were fantastic in their game with south caufield just getting pipped with 2 or 3 balls to go. Mackie were good to watch aswell but just didnt have enough runs on the board.
all in all a very good day of cricket.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Is anyone able to give a run down on any of the games, ie most runs & wicket takers.

Mackie's highlights in the first game were Derek Kinsella taking four wickets in an over (was on two hat-tricks, didn't get either). Tom Nelson's outfielding, taking three brilliant catches and another two in the second game. Buddha making 70 odd in the first game hitting approx. 6 of the biggest sixes seen for a while. Dale Park batting the innings and batting superbly for about 60. Cavaliers only highlight was their opening bat who moved around the crease and backed his eye with some great clean hitting and made 57. We won't talk
about their fielding! Mackie chased down their 161 in 18 overs.

Buddha followed it up in the final smashing them to all parts for a quick 49.
South Caulfield basically dominated the rest of the game with their openers doing as they pleased, particularly their captain who was superb. South Caulfield passed Mackie's 152 in 15 overs with ease. Classy outfit with two direct run outs to boot whilst in the field.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

Bentleigh uniting vs South caulfield.
Uniting sent in. batted superbly in first 10-12 overs with Backman, Turner and Richards putting on a show for all us spectators early with Turner getting 30 off 15 balls. Richards and Backman batted smartly playing proper cricket shots and getting good value pushing the score along to 110 before Richards was dismissed for a very good 25 off 15 or so balls and a handful of runs later Backman was dismissed for 60 off 30-35 balls. Uniting's lower end struggled in search for quick runs but ended up with a more than competitive 175.
South caufield started there chase positively putting unitings bowlers to all parts quickly racing to 2-120 before Richards and Backman pulled in the reigns in reducing them to 7-133. They both pitched the ball up and and the souths struggled with the lack of pace.
in the end the souths batsmen pushed singles and 2's and just got home with 2 balls to spare. unitings slower bowlers in particular heaney( 2-22) , richards( 2-15), britt(1-25) and Backman(2-17) really put uniting in with a show.
was a top notch game to spectate.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

It is a sad time to hear the passing of John Quiney. The CMCA is hoping that all clubs will wear black arm bands this weekend to pay respect for the man who invested so much of his time in the CMCA, as well as his beloved Washington Park CC.

JQ was a one of the really good blokes in the association, and always had time to have a chat over anything.

Cougar. Grab a tissue and wipe the tears from your cheek you goose.
If i was not liked and un-popular like you say do you think i would have been given the Captaincy for 2 years and been there for 11 years.
I still have alot of mates there infact i am catching up with some tonight for a beer.
So i guess your comments have been BUSTED, whack cop that you alias skirting moron.
You don't seem to realise i play football with some of these guys, i am St.Kilda.f.c club members with some of these guys and we go fortnightly to games and i have grown up with some of these guys since i was 14 and lived with them.

Its time to set the record straight Brett!

Most people at the club think your weak and pathetic for walking out when you didnt get the coaching job!

A lot of people would have left the club if you were appointed!

Everybody is sick of you commenting on the club on this forum!

So stop wasting your time thinking about uniting like an ex girlfriend and start putting plenty of slip slop slap on your big tattoo bearing your current girlfriends name.

peace!

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

John was a brilliant man, always had time to talk to everyone.

When i was young he approached me and shook my hand and said hello i did not know him at the time and i took it upon myself to find out about him and everyone spoke highly of the man.

I wish the Quiney family well wishes in this difficult time.

Re: CMCA- Ommies to remain in top grade

John will be missed by all at the Sharks! John was the first bloke i met when i pulled up at training for the first time and made me feel welcome as if i had known him for a lifetime. I was only at the club for a short while but occasionly called in to the odd game and John always remembered me and bought me a beer.
Will never be replaced............................

Brett it's clear to see it was not in your best interest to talk about our club on this forum, but i can understand why you did.
In that you tried to show some support for your old team mates but it did not work out and it is good to see you have stopped remarking on the club as you really do achieve nothing from it.

To say you leaving was pathetic is probably not the right words to use, but you have clearly upset some people as they are disappointed by your departure. If these people did not like you then you probably would not have bothered them when you left.
Uniting man is clearly one who is upset, i know you still have a lot of friends and plenty people who wish for you to return one day when ever that may be.

No doubt one of the reasons for your departure was due to your removal as Captain, probably a bit harsh as in 2 years under your reign you brought the club a Premiership.
I have been around long enough to know you worked your arse off for the club, 1st to training and last to leave.

You were thrusted into taking over training sessions at an early age and you were there when we fought relegation, and if some people did honestly say "they would have left if you were appointed" is poor on there behalf. But these are probably the same few who also have said they would leave if the current person was appointed.

What you have done for the club in your 10+ years here does not get swept under the carpet, you have had alot to do with our revival as a power house club of the association.

I am not here to judge weather the club has made the right decission, i can only hope you develop as a person and that COACHING is what you really want to do and it is not just an excuse to leave.

Good luck!
