Not sure Albury have made much progress in recruiting who would want to play there as i see it gary elliot is the only reason they didn't go down last year. Not sure marmos the right person to lead albury but good luck to him hope he has the right people around him, heard he has contacted nth people regretting leaving.

duanne schleibs good clubman but would struggle to get a game with all the recruits at N/city

Was surprised to see someone mention young fully to n/city with marmo gone the keeping job at north seems to be his.

Not surprised if the cupido rumour is true, wonder how it will affect n/city if true.

For me Stpats v Nth GF & mido to get raiders up against Mt beuaty

1.Apparently its daniels to Albury, wangaratta, Las vegas and tibet.

2.Schliebs not coaching Kiewa but staying at New City to act as new site screen.

3.Fully to stay at North but will spend most of his season on rep duties.

4.Cupido flying to the moon and not available....why not? everything else is taken i may as well start a rumor that no-one else has. Thats GOLD!

chtwo one chtwo....did anyone get the check?

T Ball new face of KFC.....and the new Burt Newton (Moon Face)
Middo: the new George burns....will he be playing at age 98 with a cigar in his mouth?

Come on guys lets get back to reality and keep the rumour and innuendo to a minimum :D.

I have noticed that a couple of clubs are still looking for coaches this close tO the season.most clubs have started training . I would have thought clubs would be ready to go.

So who is boots??

Just wondering who will dederang pick up?? With Middo gone and Horey retired?

Boots??? That is the question BGDR....Spoke to a couple of the New City lads at the footy today and they say boots is full of malarky and wouldn't know truth from fiction.

Re: Cricket Albury Wodonga 2010/2011

so has everyone started training yet? any pickups for he clubs yet, other tha concrete boots, any factual clearences? i no we have picked up a good young quick bowler from holbrook

That sounds good S&F, Lavington have a few wise heads there in Keeno and the two KB's that are quality quicks and can pass on good knowledge of the craft, can't wait to see how he performs.

The only Clubs that I have seen that are active at this time are Lavington, Raiders and New City...would seem that all others are quiet??

The district comp looks as though it won't be as one-sided as last year with the likes of Raiders, Barny, Mt Beauty and Yackandandah all appearing to be title contenders. I'll put it on the line and say Mt. Beauty for premiers. A big call but they have felt the pain of losing GF's and would now know what it takes to grab the title.

I thought that about Mt.Beauty 4 or 5 grand final losses ago LTG.

I think the District competition is only getting stronger and harder to win, at least this season will give clubs a chance to put in place a 2 year plan for promotion.
Yack should do pretty well but even they will be surprised when they see the better standard of the competition, Mt.Beauty will certainly be there abouts but Barny Chiltern and Raiders will also be better, i think Raiders need some top order bats to go far into March and Barny need greater depth but these sides will be the top four.

Provincial will be interesting to say the least.
St.pats: definite GF contender with Luke Restall like a new recruit after a poor season last year i expect big things from him.
North: perennial power house who has done well to hold their list together after some off season turmoil plus the addition of Rhys Jones only strengthens them....my pick for the flag yet again.
Lavington: Certainly have a fantastic young list and bowling is their strength, expect them to be there abouts....again alot of turmoil in the off season but they seem to have found someone up there with some leadership as all has been quiet for a while.
Wodonga: Haven't heard much about the reigning premiers.....does anyone have any news?
East Albury: Again haven't heard alot but if what is about is true they will certainly struggle and could be in trouble for one of the bottom 2 places.
Tallangatta: A committment from Lade after he was touted as moving to North and a super fit Steve Wood (apparently he is primed for a big year) will be enough to see them compete in finals action, maybe losing Dower to New City by the sound of things.
Belvoir:Stay tuned for a potential big signing of one of their better cricketers back from Melbourne, apart from that i haven't heard much, could also be a bottom 2 finisher but will be looking for further inprovement out of their young brigade, also heard they are in talks with Steve McLennan.
Albury: Don't believe all you hear in regards to their recruiting, have picked up some handy players but certainly need more because their depth is sadly lacking.....i have recently heard the Jack could make a move across to help Marmo.
New City:Have made some good signings but still need more in my opinion, will rely heavily on how long Cupido stays in town, should be a competitive unit but are also a bottom 2 prospect. Not sure about the talk regarding heaps of recruits but they need some top order batting depth if they are to compete at this level......good luck to the boys i admire what they have achieved to date but fear they may just be lacking depth.
Dederang:Apparently will struggle big time, definitely need to recruit but have heard nothing yet.....my pick for the wooden spoon after a fantastic 1st year in Provincial.

Welcome any further feedback or info about recruits and departures.....not long now, hold onto your hats this season could be a bumpy ride:)

Ahhh Touche' Reverse Sweeper!!:D

For Mt. Beauty's sake it can't rain all the time, surely:confused:

Al Randal and his boys are quality competitors but they just need to stick the big jumps at the business end of the year. They have felt enough pain from past defeat's so hopefully they can channel it in the right direction.:)

Fair call though TRS!!!

All good views here Ritchie and I agree with the statement that district will be a tougher comp to win this year. I guess this is where the CAW vision may be taking shape, if only in it's infacy anyway:cool:

Accurate calls in regards to St. Pats, North, Lavington and Tallangatta.

Have heard that Wodonga has lost a few and will drop back to the pack? Anyone else with further info feel free to chip in?

It would be fair to say that you have just scared the hell out of alot of people reading that Mr. Woods is going to tear a new one for each teams top order, cheers for the good news Ritchie:eek:

Glad to se someone burst the bubble over New City, I thought that next we were going to read the even Steve Waugh had been bankrolled to make an appearance. Next big story is CAW to introduce a salary cap the way they are going. Can't wait to see how Grand Dad's army perform and if they have any chop at all?

Sounds as though the silly season is rife with about 9 weeks out from season proper and can't wait to see how both district and provincial teams shape up.

Gotta love the game:)

I actually find all the New City hype unfounded and would love to know why it is they are seen as being big spenders......if someone could actually shed some truth on this i would interested, sure Cupido would have cost them but don't all clubs pay coaches? what other players would they possibly pay? Not sure about the Dads Army tag either, they do have some older players but just the same as all other clubs and for mine it really doesn't matter about age providing you can compete.....look at Barto what is he 50?.

I agree that the thought of a fit and firing Woody is imposing but who is the next young quick primed to take his place as the fastest bowler in the area? Surely there are some new young talent coming through that we can all have a good look at.....how does his young bloke go?

will be interested to see who rolls out for N/city but I couldn't see them spending to much Cupido on 3k a committee member told me & I think they had incentive based payments for anyone else in A grade.

Actually played against woodys young bloke in a lower grade last don't think he bowl but for a young bloke looked very good with the bat.

Barto has to be close to 50 but still seems to get runs when it counts.

Who are the clubs that are still looking for coaches?

I saw St Pats add in saturday's border and I think East Albury the week before...

It's starting to heat up on here. It's great to see laughs aswell.

That's all good Ritchie, but I guess the hype will remain unfounded until either the man that holds the cheque book at New City or the President decide to weigh in? I was talking to Anthony Baker at the footy on the weekend and he was very tight lipped but said he hoped City were competitive...also, looking at the facilities he and his brother were cleaning up, dads army have got it pretty good down at Urana Rd:)

Barto is a great example and I stand corrected...that mans definately got the skills with the willow.

Don't know about the next young quick but the days are gone when the comp saw the likes of Anderson, Wood, Baker, Naughton, Williams, Ellliott, Midson or Furze terrorising the comp and all at the same time and thats with leaving out a few names too!

Jesse Griffiths from Wodonga was the only one that stood out to me last year apart from Steve Wood.
