Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Tips for round 6???

Lower Eltham v Lower Plenty - LE due for a loss
Epping v Plenty - EP in a close one
Macleod v Eltham - Waddingham will slog elthams ordinary at best attack
Lalor Stars v Diamond Creek - Creek easily
Bundoora v Riverside - Bundoora's import cleaned them up last year expect him to do it again
Mernda v Research - Baker to have them in all sorts on a bowler friendly deck

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

how crap is the dvca website , just went on and checked jikas website which updates 2-3 times a week , went on the hdca website they already have there rep side picked for this weekend which i did not know about . the dvca website looks amatuerish compared to some of the clubs websites .

I reckon Lower Eltham will take some beating...LP will have to bowl very, very well..confidence is high at the moment....Salvo was bowling beautifully last week, at a decent clip too. They have very solid supporting seam crew - Burgoyne, McCutcheon and the wily Curtis....

Ahhh keeping is the devil.

Any how, this week I will go for
Lower Eltham v Lower Plenty - LE to continue their run, I HOPE!
Epping v Plenty - Epping just.
Macleod v Eltham - Macleod will be too strong
Lalor Stars v Diamond Creek - Creek on the back of the Glynns
Bundoora v Riverside - Bundoora in a hugely important game
Mernda v Research - Mernda, but 100+ out there means game on.

Lower Eltham - Gunn against his old club to ton up.
Epping - Comfortably
Eltham - They need to find something in this year and will be backing themselves for this one.
Creek - Big ton to Glynn
Bundoora - I agree with bradfromeltham
Mernda - Baker to clean up on a pitch he knows and destroys on.

I know they try but I reckon its all about time, and they do not have it.

If you are offering your time consider emailing Frank Mash at the DVCA and offer options, I know it would be appreciated. Even if its only suggestions they will take it on board.

It would be better if the comps web was in better nick.

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Hey all, was listening to SEN the other night, they had a bloke on from Danedong Distict CA talking about what they do, and seemed to have a lot of good stuff going on we could learn from...

1. Really good ties between Dandeong in premier cricket and the comp, with an annual rep game between the two
2. A 36 over a side one day comp, without restrictions on blokes from the 1s who are missing for a week
3. A tue night, 16 team knockout 20-20 tournament with the winner going into the next years VB 20-20 comp

All ideas I reckon have merit. A one day comp especially, can get people playing that wouldn't otherwise... Anyone if any of these ideas have been discussed by 'the executive'?

Thanks mate, although not sure whether Mark Minney would play, hasn't been a starter in the last few years, having said that i would like to see him play as i understand he can bat a little bit!!
You didn't mention yourself in there, surely you would be a chance??

apparenty Mark is a certain starter, as for myself, happy to make small contributions for my club, not sure wether the comp side needs a specialist first slipper!!
will be interesting to see the final make up of the side though, hopefully they pick the guys who have shown some form over the first 5 rounds, they deserve first crack....

Don't know if the comp side needs a specialist slogger brad, or somebody that hides down the order like you do.

witcher, waddingham & Mctaggart are probably stiff to miss but you could slot them in and you wouldn't lose anything.

You are on here more than me Brad!

The side as far as I know is;
Gibbs, Poyser, Yarra Glynn, Justin Whitcher, Lovey, Conlan Gunn
Brett Glynn, Micky Hansen, Rosbrook, Baker and possibly Kemp.

Surely Chris Salvatore would have to be a starter, leading wicket taker in the comp and saw him bowl at Mernda, it was the quickest spell from an Lower Eltham bowler since Peter Candy in his prime.

It all sounds like a great idea in theory, but with 36 over a side comp I don't think they could play, because you would have to play a lot of Sunday cricket, something I don't think the players would be too overly keen on the idea, plus with a lot of grounds out of action, Sunday's sre usually reserved for lower grades and veterans. As for a 20-20 comp, i'm pretty sure they tried to start one up roughly 3 years ago and it never got off the ground. Aren't Diamond Creek already in this years VB 20-20 comp, or is it just a one off game against Banyule next week?

He bowled quicker the week before! He isnt playing due to a prior function he had on.

Nah mate, not as messy as you thought I wasn't there. Too cold to leave the house (soft i know) and I will cop on here for it. I heard it was a top night with a lot of messy blokes there. Will be there on Saturday and the poker night the week after to go for back to back titles. I will be the hunted on the night.
