Re: DVCA Money Shield

Also would like to extend my thoughts and prayers for the avola family and the boys from whittlesea stay strong boys

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Don't know if anyone from up Whittlesea way have internet access or not. Or perhaps someone on here knows people who are homeless for the time being and have been staying up at the showgrounds.

If anybody could pass on this message. I live in Ivanhoe area and have a spare room with separate bathroom and living area which is not being used. The bedroom is fully furnished . I can take in perhaps a young couple with an infant for a while until you get your feet back on the ground if you are a fire victim and need some shelter for your child.

Anyway, if anyone is desperate, I can be contacted via e-mail me at acksgrinder@yahoo.com .

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Like to thank the Mill Park and Lalor Stars cricket clubs for staging a terrific night at Redleap last night. Many big hits in the 20/20, from a spectators view the game was played in great spirtits and everybody that played was there to entertain. Tough season this one for Mill park in regards to their ground and clubrooms this fund raiser was meant to help in recovering lost revenue. Thommo good entertainment, the most important thing was that there was sense of occassion and everybody chipped in. Good to see 15 or 20 of the franks boys up there too.

We done Millsy you and your club deserve a huge pat on the back.

Re: DVCA Money Shield

South Morang are having a drink at their rooms this Saturday night with all proceeds from the bar and canteen going directly to victims of the fire. We have been hit along with every other club with tragic stories.

Any one is welcome to come along and contribute. There will be some raffles going and a silent auction with some quality goods available.

All are welcome during the day or night.

Come along and support this worthy cause.

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Thanks Brett

I would just like to thank every one who supported such a great night. The game was played in very good spirt and there were some big 6s hit

To Lalor Stars and St Francis thank you so much for all you guys have done, all the Mill Park boys worked your ass off last night and was prould of each and every one of you.

We raised around $20,000 which is fantastic and made the night worth while Jeff Thomson is a gun of a man,and a top bloke throwing in $10,000 worth of cloths to help people in need.

I agree with you One Shot. The only problem I had was that Brett Lewis won the raffle and the tight arse didn't donate it back to the club. The man's on a zillion dollars at the Franks and couldn't donate back to the Parkers to raffle this Saturday Night to go towards the rooms. As for Thommo bowling 179 clicks that's nothing compared to the Picker in his glory years.

Picker Out.

hey, beenaround i hope everything is ok up your way and all of you are safe.

Thanks mate.
Thankfully we stayed out of the fire line by a few km's, but was pretty damn scarey.
We got lucky up here, but unfortunately we found out monday night that we have lost one of our young guys, and another that played his juniors with us, in the Strathewen fires.
I know we are not the only ones, and our hearts go out to ALL that have lost family or friends.
Just a truely horrible thing. :(:(:(

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Without knowing the result of the Mont v S.M match, the finals comes down to 5 or 6 sides now, with only the Frang being safe in the 4.
MASSIVE last round coming up, any thoughts guys ?

Mont v T.U. non event if Mont lost yesterday, but if they won, absolute make or break for Mont.
The Bat v Whit. Must win for the bat, but will have to play well as whittlesea are not playing all that bad at the moment.
M.P v NEW. Danger game for NEW, as a loss could see them miss, and MP have nothing to lose.
Franks v HB. no result on top 4, but franks need a big win to go into finals with confidance.
College v BU. College "should" win easily, but god only knows with United.
Morang v P/Hill. Cant really see hills batting holding up, but if they get a score, will morangs batting hold together ???

Morang 230 Mont 185

Pendles best bat in the comp by a mile.

Good win by us though. We need an upset if we're going to make the finals, but i cant see one coming. :(:(

Re: DVCA Money Shield

its not confirmed yet but Hurstbridge and North eltham are probably having a 20/20 at hurstbridge on tuesday night as a fund raiser for those devistated by the tragic bushfires, its not much but every bit counts.would be good to get a bit of support there.

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Good to see Thomastown United up to there old tricks again, the President they have needs to have his head examined.

Setting up a BBQ and selling beer out of a eski is not on at other clubs grounds. The DVCA should have a very close look at this as I find it poor form, Mill Park raised over $20,000 and for Thomastown to use the fires for what they were doing is just not on. I would love to see where that money went???

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Congrats to Mernda & Bundoora Utd, Spoke to Rezza this morning and said they raised over $4,000 for the bushfire fund. Tremendous Effort.

Hopefully Mill Park & Lalor Stars can do just as well, very generous on Mill Parks behalf to donate the funds on what was planned as a major fundraiser for there own benefit.

Bundoora will be playing Watsonia footy Club next Thursday night the 19th in a 20/20 with all proceeds to be donated. kick off at 5:30 with hopefully a celebrity in each team, still working on it.
bbq, raffles, auction items & live music from 8pm.

i'm sure you are all aware that Whittlesea are holding a major event on friday the 27th of Feb, see the footy club website for details.
they are anticipating a huge crowd so i think Dysons will be arranging buses to & from the event, when i know more i'll post the pick up points.

Rumor has it Brett Thomas has signed with Morang next season, if this is true its a big slap in the face for Mill Park after he has called them the best bunch of blokes he has ever meet. I think Morang will find out the hard way about 1 Brett Thomas.

From how he batted on the weekend it looks that way. swung from his cakehole 1st nut to get his stumps knocked out of the ground for a golden!

Sounds as good as the number 3 at St Francis or the number 3 at College.

Joker, from these comments, its sounds as though you're a disappointed Mill Park player/member/commitee person as you seem to know a fair bit of whats going on at Redleap.
On face value, you may have grounds for being a little upset with what the TU guys were doing. I'd hate to think that they were trying there own little Bush Fire Appeal fundraiser, and you have jumped the gun in having a crack at them. -if this is the case, I reckon the only thing they are guilty of is possibly not communicating with the Mill Park comittee. It would be interesting to hear what The Wizz has to say about what happenend. Before we make too many assumptions, and have too many Presidents heads examined, I would be interested to hear a response from The Wizz.

As for the rumours about Thommo, thats not a bad one!
You would have to think after the disappointing year that you guys have had, that there may be some pressure on the coach to retain his position anyway. Further to this, I know Thommo now lives in the Mill Park Lakes area, so it could be a pretty easy rumour to start. I'd be interested to know where you heard that rumour...or is it just more crap that you've decided to bring up with nothing to substantiate it? (it wouldnt be the first time would it??)

Finally I doubt Thommo would even get a game at Morang. After all, we have a pretty good group of 5 or 6 bowlers, so unless he could offer something with the bat (which we all know he cant), i think he might find himself struggling to force his way into our team.

I wont say to much as this matter is in the hands of the DVCA,I will say We at Mill Park have no problems with Thomastown trying to make money to help the fire appeal however I do have a problem with them setting up BBQ and selling beer at our ground.

The Joker has not jumped the gun what Thomastown did was wrong and not on. They seem to always find ways of crying poor I called Glen (President) and asked him not to sell the beer as we dont want our licence in any danger, after he promised me they wont sell beer they still did. Im sure if the shoe was on the other foot Thomastown would be the 1st club to be jumping up and down. But the matter is over with now and time to move on.

I and the club had no dramas with them cooking a BBQ just for the record.

As for Thommo cant see any reason for him to leave Mill Park as he has told every one its the best club and best bunch of blokes he has ever played with. I just cant see him leaving.

yer maybe spend more time in the nets, then on the nerd box bear, must be busy at work.

i think gutto is the most destructive player in the comp with bat and ball, best chance to get 3's.

Simon Bray good season but losing early games and not grabbing big bags mighten help. But diffenently most improved.

Crowe the smokie.

Re: DVCA Money Shield

Gutto is a good chance and should be favourite, he has had a good all round season. I'm interested to see how the voting goes based on the fact that he is a fast bolwer first, doesn't mind a back chat or a hissy fit now and again :) - wonder if that will effect the umpires voting at all?

Simon Bray will be up there, again another who has had a decent all round season.

Lester - as Brett said, too much time on your hands! Good job though Bruce Mcavaney.

White Lightning shoudl get some votes, surely the prize wicket of Lester for a Golden is worth something?

Re: DVCA Money Shield

My smoky for top 3 would be Caithness, not a lot of players stealing votes from him.

Also, Chippa has had some good results so he may take a few votes away from Gutto and Dogga.
