DVCA Off-Season 2021

Clothing would have needed to be ordered 3-4 months ago so that cannot happen. Also the correct procedure is YOUR club place a rule change proposal, get another club to second it and then submit and all the clubs can vote it in. If you have time to place a suggestion on a forum maybe speak to your club and get it voted on next year?

Well coloured clothing was raised at the DVCA agm for this years one day games in the shield grades.
Nearly every club has a coloured kit or something close enough. I can personally see this being a thing for this upcoming season!

Shield Grades- 50 overs, 10 max per bowler, fielding restrictions, colors and white balls.
Below- 40 overs, 8 max per bowler, fielding restrictions, colors and white balls.

Liven the comp up a bit.

The way the DV approach one day cricket is boring and flat.

Not bad, although the coloured clothing is another expense that might stand in the way of casual players.

I dont want to pile on here but... It cant be nearly as far as uniforms go. With colored clothing every player must look exactly the same otherwise it looks like a game of under 12's (no disrespect to Under 12's!) . So if you have players going up and down the grades there needs to be enough supply at clubs to facilitate that. I would think that most first elevens wear exactly the same playing shirt but from there it can be a dogs breakfast

I get the feeling clubs will struggle with finances this year.. will there be any bars able to even be open after games?
The whole uniform thing seems to be a bit odd to do it this year when there is so much uncertainty. I think leave the ball red. The grass green and wear the whites.
Cricket is expensive enough to play!

Every single game I played were able to have beers after the game. I assume it'll be the same

DV stuck in the golden age, almost every other comp already plays in colors and white balls. Need to get their act together. One day cricket in whites with red balls, gross.

Agree. The NMCA have been able to even bring in coloured clothing for this season. If its manageable for them, it's going to be fine for us.

It's so lazy and typical to just throw this in the too hard basket, it's not expensive and it will look great for all shield grades.

Predict we'll be playing cricket by mid-November, so clubs have the following options to not be caught out and let the whole competition down by being lazy and unorganised.

1. $31.90 will get you a coloured cricket pant (Available in Red, Royal, Navy, Black, Bottle, Maroon, Gold., Any sizes can be manufactured, Minimum 20 Pairs, Allow approx 4 weeks for delivery, made in Australia (from Buffalo Sports in Brunswick)
2. If clubs want to be proactive and have the resources to do so, can get a higher end product where suppliers can turn pants around within 5-6 weeks with sponsors and club/comp logos incorporated (hint maybe ask a business to subsidise the new pants with logo placement)
3. If the clubs existing merchandise supplier cant help, give Rossy a call from BU he will look after you with TNF.
4. Wear white pants and existing coloured polo/warm up top (every club has a coloured polo/warm up top)

An unvaxxed player doesn’t qualify to be a registered player. An unregistered player can’t play.

An unregistered player can’t be put on a team sheet.

This all can be done without a player having to give his medical/vax status to the club.

It does, but its up to the player to get registered and to be registered you must either be vaxxed or have a medical exemption. This way the player is not handing over any personal information to a club official. That is my main objection to any comps requirement.

I don't believe any third party has the right to demand your medical history and that's how it should be. Saying that you have to "register" implies some over seeing body has to police the registration process and they wouldn't have the right to demand such information either and I believe the fines for doing so under the privacy act are quite hefty.

Then the question is; how long to do want this to go on. Will we still be having to show some proof of vaccination in 5 years? Like it or lump it, everyone will be exposed to this virus sooner or later, that will make any talk of a vaccination "passport" pointless.

...and before anyone starts screaming "antivaxxer" at me, I am not, get vaccinated guys. I do however believe peoples rights and privacy need to be protected.
