Re: England in New Zealand

The more I think about it, the more its shocking that Dimi was dropped. I know that there are Bopara fans on here but surely, Dimi was the difference between the two sides in the 20/20 and deserved a go in the longer form?

Re: England in New Zealand

Fact of the day:

At a previous game at this ground, the crowd noise was recorded by film director Peter Jackson for use in one of the "Lord of the Rings" films.

Aren't I good to you all!

England struggling a bit, 43-2, need a big one from KP.

Re: England in New Zealand

Bumble just gave that fact as well.

Running between wickets has been awful.

Pitch not turning not seaming and not swinging, just really slow.

Broad again looked good with the bat.

Re: England in New Zealand

I can't believe that I am still up watching this shit at 6.00am.

I really should go to bed.

Re: England in New Zealand

Surprised to see the scorecard today. Too many runouts in there for England.

Re: England in New Zealand

Shocking performance there by England, failed to come to terms with the slowness of the wicket from the start. Once a few wickets fell, panic set in and then the run outs happened.

A disappointment after the good showing in the twenty20's, hopefully we'll bounce back for the 2nd game.

Re: England in New Zealand

New Zealand is on fire. 145-0 from just 15 overs!!! That is just ubelivable even for Twenty20. England must have played very badly to make just 158

Re: England in New Zealand

I went to bed with it all looking rosy, Cook and KP in good form and then it all goes wrong.

Get Bopara out of the team, I don't care who they bring in, the guy needs to mature and think about what he is doing. Can't blame the bowlers as they were put in a no-win situation. They to attack in order to take wickets, instead of the more usual tight and negative lines.

From the euphoria of Sri Lanka to the abject misery of New Zealand, the joy of being an England supporter!

Mascheranas, Mascheranas, Mascheranas.

Re: England in New Zealand

Ryder's looking extremely well for New Zealand. If I'm remembering correctly, they've had problems finding a stable opening pair for a while, at least in ODIs. It seems like they've finally found a solution in McCullum and Ryder.

Re: England in New Zealand

3rd game about to start and England will field, must win if they want to have any chance of winning the series.

Dimi Mascarenhas and Luke Wright coming in for Graeme Swann and Ravi Bopara, which is fair enough (maybe harsh on Swann has he hasn't really had the runs to bowl at).

Only the one change for New Zealand as they have brought in Paul Hitchcock for the injured Michael Mason.

Re: England in New Zealand

Great, forgot there was a match myself but seems a good all-round performance with Colly being the star of the show.

Re: England in New Zealand

An exciting high-scoring tie in the 4th match. Does anyone else think that we have too many inconsistant bowlers in our team?

Re: England in New Zealand

wow it must have been a very exciting game. how played a blinder. new zealand somehow manage to chase these kind of totals. they did it twice in the chappel hadlee series and almost did it here. this result makes sure that england cant win the series. if the manage to win the last odi it would be a great comeback for them.

Hard to say but if anybody then I would say Anderson. He can be great on his day but awful the next.

Re: England in New Zealand

I agree. On the one hand he can be our best bowler, and the spearhead of the attack. Not to mention he is probably the best outfielder in the world. But on the other hand he can be a bloody liability.

I know he has a bit of a cult following, and I include myslef in that, but imo he shouldn't be anywhere near the test team, and is place in the ODI team is under question because he leeks a bult load of runs on regular occasions.
