Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

A goodish crowd but a definatly a good atmoshpere witnessed a pretty good game in which bell post hill controlled pretty much from the 15 over mark of there batting innings thru to there bowling innings. The hill made 7/144 (stacker top scored, i'd say, he batted well and got support from the north fielders) and north needing way too many off there last few overs finished at 8/132 (mitch troy batted well for his 60 before being run out)

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

Intense game @ Myers Reserve with the Panthers getting off to a flyer. Sells + Watts smashing balls to all parts of the ground. Then a comeback from the Magpies put the Panthers on the back foot. Collapse of 4 for 15 put the Magpies well on top. Brad Stacey then come together with Travis Fursland and they put the Panthers back in good stead putting on a partnership of 62. Panthers finishing on 7/144 after 20 overs.

The magpaies started off reasonably slow with Hall going out in the 8th over and the score being on 28. Another small partnership between Mithch Troy and Marco Sticca saw the magpies back on a track with a bit to do in the last 10 overs, unfortunatley the run rate was at around 10. Then a great over from Russell Baddley saw Marco Sticca being dismissed and Col Millard out for Golden down leg side and the score at 3/58. Then Teilens and some good hitting from Mitch Troy put them past the 100 mark at the 17 over mark and the score on 3/103. Then the wicket of Mitch Troy which was a great knock of 60 and the wicket of Danny Teilens took the score 5/103 and then it looked to far out of reach for the magpies but they invented a few shots and backed themselves and put themselves back within a hope but ended up falling short and finishing 8/132 after there allocated 20 overs.

It was a great night and well put on by the Hill with a carnival like atmosphere with the music and the boundary in. And ofcourse the beers were flowing evrywere with a good crowd in to see some exciting T20 cricket.

Look forwward to the next round of 4 which will see the Panthers take on either Lara/East Belmont. On the either side of the final 8 sees

South Barwon vs Grovedale
Geelong West vs St. Josephs

Should be interesting to see the results and the next stage on the Sunday 17th January.
Which correct me if im wrong but both semi-finals played on Neutral venues or maybe even a double header to progress to the Grand Final on Australia Day at the Geelong cricket ground.

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

Good to see the GCA promoting the games well for us !! South Barwon take on Grovedale this Tuesday 12th Jan from 5pm at South Barwon. K-rock advertise about the K-Rock T20 cup and tell people to check the GCA website which they obviously cannot do !!

I like the idea of the music on the boundary line at BPH. Was that Watching Closely's Car parked on the side lines with some doff doff ??

I also believe the finals on the 17th will be two games being played at the same time at South Barwon and Marshall.

Ha ha ha, about as funny as Koliba saying he is the fittest bloke in the GCA. LOL. One of the blokes at the club has a full DJ set-up and they just thought if you play 20/20 then you should have the atmosphere aswell. Was great to play in. . . Unlike me cheer cheer i don't get involved in subwoofers and that sort of crap anymore . . . ha ha ha :D:D:D

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

Grovedale had a comfortable win last night in the delayed start T20 game at South Barwon after the rain yesterday afternoon. Although the game ended in extremely dark conditions the game had already been sewn up by South loosing too three for's in close succession during the run chase of 128 that was set by Grovedale earlier. T20 specialist Wonka started the match off well collecting the wickets of Pearce and Peterson in the first over to give the Swans a perfect start. Martyn Evans (48) was the only top order batsmen which made any headway hitting 7 of the 10 Grovedale boundaries, but it was probably the innings of regular 2nd XI bowler Brendan Allen with 24 at the end including a vital 21 run last wicket stand to reach the competitive total. South started the innings with a maiden and then lost both openers by the third but a good partnership between DK and Babbsy took the score to 2 for 44 before Baz Tsitas came on in the 8th over to see both batsmen being dismissed, Babbsy a wide stumping and DK straight down the throat of square leg. Young followed soon after to put the Swans right back. Then in the 70's three mosre wickets fell to see the Swans 9 for 78, almost in complete darkness (in cricketing terms) with only Rowdy and Rossy left. A late highlight was Rossy smacking the ball straight back down the wicket and Rowdy stuck in the way to collect a certain boundry !! Rossy was dismissed with the score on 94 in the 18th over to see Baz take three wickets to also join man of the match East with his three. So Grovedale progress to the semi-final round on Sunday which I believe is at South Barwon/Marshall but nothing has officially come from the GCA for this yet ??

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

Very telling in the game, Grovedale 10 boundaries included one six, versus South Barwon 6 boundaries including one six.

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

West beat Joeys with an over to spare and East beat Lara by 60 runs, Andrew Baars took a hat-trick. I think West v's Grovedale and Bell Post hill v's East on Sunday simultaneous at South Barwon and Marshall, correct me if I'm wrong if anyone knows.

Baars took a hat-rick? Oh dear, what is the world coming too?

Re: GCA Twenty Competition & vBookie

So we beat Grovey in the first T20 in the group stages and they come out from that and win the comp?
Amazing

Apparently it was that first games lesson which was dealt out by the Magpies turned their fortunes around !!
