i was walking my dog the other day past stalbans and jay addy was in the nets having a hit.
im sure the bowling machine was going at over 90mph and he was getting them around his nose, he was hooking them onto the clubroom roof.
Big year for the big fella:D

just as well you didnt break his concentration in the nets coz he would have jumped the st albans fence and eaten your dog.

After spending a fair bit of time around Geelong junior cricket there seems to have been quite a few talented kids that go to Geelong CC and only stay a couple of seasons and some that don't go at all ..... Is there a reason that anyone knows ? Do you know Sam Schaller personally? because what I know of him and what others say of him is completely opposite to brainless.

some players prefer to play 1st XI at their local club against some quality cricketers as apposed to playing 3rd or 4th XI VCA standard against blokes their own age.
also i think their is a lot of dedication/travel needed which is often a big ask from a 16-18yr old who is at school still studying.
the one's who want to make it in cricket make an early move to VCA but those who aren't going to be world-beaters prefer the club atmosphere at local level.

Ok.. No clarification on Grovedale. I think the 4 clubs you mentioned were Geelong West, St Joeys, East Belmont, Grovedale.

You have had a 1st player & Committee member confirm that they play by the rules, and I believe it.
You have had myself a 1sts player & Commitee member from Grovedale confirm that we play by the rules and I believe myself.

So far 2 out of 4 shot down in flames!

Harps, i reckon you protest too much....

You need a mountain goat and sherpers to get you to little river. Still got the dirt roads out there. 150 years behind modern times. As you will find out they still have 1800's fashion. Skinny is straight of the set of a Ned Kelly Movie, and its not too uncommon for a few wild horses to stroll around the paddock at times too.

When the goats eventually get you to the rivers, you see half the colony bathing at the river at the one time. knickerbockers are flying around everywhere at the racy creek!

Fraser plays hook shots at my bouncers about 150 years too late.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

GCC101 if your from Guild I wouldn't be worried about what St Albans blokes are up to, I'd be more worried about the bloke that plays in your 1sts thats a thief and be caught several time, even lost his job at timber truss because of it, and money went missing when he worked with his brother in law and I here money went missing when this certain bloke played at St Albans a few years ago, and he left a few weeks later, so I've heard.

Let me remind you all that extremely slanderous comments towards other players won't be tolerated on this board. These types of comments are not at all acceptable and have no place in this thread nor on this site.

Any members making such remarks (regardless of whether they have any truth or not) will face serious consequences (i.e lengthy temporary bans or life bans). I hope this serves as a warning to you all.

Derogetory posts like this have no place on BigCricket. Make sure the talk sticks to the cricket and not the man.

Thanks.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

I seen tonight that the T20 comp for the Grand Finalist from last years GCA Div1 BPCA SLCA & Colac comp is going ahead again, Its knock out with the final on the MCG later next year.
I'm pretty sure-

South Barwon will play Barwon Heads @ barwon heads on hard wicket
Grovedale will play St Albans @ Grovedale on turf.

Not sure how it will work with the SLCA being no longer it's own comp.

The draw is worked with GCA1 premier v BPCA runner up and GCA runner up v BPCA Premier, with the premiers to host the game.

The 1st Rd is mid-dec
