Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

On the flipside of old man Bushy-

What about young talent coming up through the ranks? I know most clubs would have 1 0r 2 young blokes who they think might suprise a few this year...but it is early days i suppose...
GWest have a kid Tim Wight who has a heap of potential played some 1's last year only maybe 17 i think. Bph have that Moreland kid who will be pretty sharp this year. Grovey- Cruickshank looks like he can hold a bat. East Belmont- Becker Ngyuen (or however u spell it) the 17 yr old in a 25 yr old mans body- could be anything.

Just my opinion anyway- Open for discussion!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Anyone got infomation on Simon Anderson and what his doing this year?? still playing at the same club?

Also, what are the chances of many of the Div 2 sides upgrading from hard wicket to turf wickets this year?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

It is interesting reading some of the pages relating to local cricket. Obviously alot of people dont have much of a clue and only join to stir people. The only time you really know some one is when you have played in the same team. dont care too much for guys that speak crap and cannot back it up. Those teams that pay the cricket sluts end up destroying their clubs - how about building a strong positive culture with decent blokes??????? boo hiss to club reckors

I concur Boo Hiss!
But forums are always full of a bit of dribble.
That's what makes them a forum I suppose!!

Becker will be a gun. But can East hold onto him without Geelong grabbing him sooner rather than later. Nice Mum though!!!!!!!!!!:D
Cruickshank will get more of a go at Grovie this year you would reckon. I think we will know by years end on him.
I haven't seen the other 2 but soon might by the sounds of things.
There is nothing better than a young gun junior coming through. As long as they keep the ego down. It is good for Geelong cricket.

Totally agree that it will be hard for east to hold on to becker, but i heard recently that he did his knee playing footy and might not get much cricket into him this season which is a shame...not just due to missing out on seeing his top shelf mum at his games!! haha
Your spot on- its great to watch the young blokes...as long as these guys can keep the ego in check (moreland may wanna look into this)!@|

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Been re-reading some of the lunatics postings - here are my thoughts
Kent Agg - is no destroyer, solid by all means but cannot destruct a side
Ando - aggressive bolwer - in the best 2-3 - big pussy cat off field
StAlbans - being competivite in div 1 - dont think so - good guys though
Scott Lindsay - good player - robot of a bloke - hard to have a beer with
Farnsworth - got alot of work to do
Manifold - boo hiss or is it ha ha ??????
Newcomb - paid for players - now paying for it themselves

my word now I have become one of the sledgers in only my 2nd posting
boo hiss

I know Ando. Played footy with him a few years back + cricket. Greatest bloke off the field that you could meet.
Also word on the street says south barwon have picked up a young Mick Kenneady from Colac...he's a run making machine up there, won a couple of premierships for Illawarra...any confirmation on this? Because he is up there with the likes of Loftus in the batting stakes..

well u'd know better than us being, South Barwon Cricket Club 08/09

Yep, spot on mate! Your to clever for me!

Obviously the SBCC bloke had heard his club had picked up or might be picking up some guy and he didn't know about it.
He was asking if anybody had any info on him.
Simple question I would have thought!!!

anyway, if this is the case i think south barwon will be unstoppable this season i think they are just one good solid bat from being the best side in it!
dunno if he'd be as good as loftus, big call

I do however agree with you on this one. As good as Loftus is a MASSIVE call. He is a gun player. One of the best in the comp. Joeys will certainly miss him.
