ok, sweet, thanks mate... have they taken down the stats link, from the GCA website?

and also, do you think many of the div 2 clubs that dont already have turf wickets will upgrade to turf this year?

i know st albans are having turf in soon as the gdfl finals are finished and r goin in2 gca next year,
as for gca div2 im pretty sure there struggling to get support from the council with the water restrictions. there are heaps of criteria's that you need to pass eg. water tanks, drought proof grass, correct sprinkler systems thats just to have them look at your application.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

He sure is. Check the link below http://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/p...tent&plugin_data_id=23733;group_name=mainsite

Apparently has been living in Oz since 6, he is 29 now, but always had a Pommie passport. His younger brother played U19 for Oz, which is even stranger. Not sure how many brothers have played for different countries.

yeah just the one had an o.k season. I think he'll be one of them blokes that has alot of clubs, not a popular bloke. I know down at Geelong knowone liked him at all. Not sure how the barrabool blokes went with him.
yeah i heard skroba got knocked back for the AT job.
Have you had any news on what Lucas Benci is doing?

signed at st.albans breakwater, on of the best attacks in geelong with murray, jones and him

all div 2 teams are turf this season except murgy who have until the start of next season to put one in or there down.

st albans no certainty to come straight into gca cos they have turf next season. and if they do they have to do the hard yards in div 3 and get the points up to be promoted.
very interesting gca meeting during the week.a lot of members not happy with st albans attitude at the moment as they just expect to join our league once turf laid.

Knowone at st albans said they'd be going straight into the gca so thats made up, we will be applying too.
the committee all know it doesn't work like that.
The only thing that was said is that if murge don't get the turf deck and we are accepted in2 the gca by the clubs, then it's in our best intrest to get the turf in this year and if they want an all turf gca2 and where the only club with a turf deck that will be our best chance.
surely any club would do the same.
maybe instead of people getting all worked up about 2nd hand info they should contact someone at the club and get the facts first.

And with GWC&FC leaving the GCA would the clubs rather have odd number of teams? i doubt it.

This concerns me on two levels:

i) it is a sad reflection on where English cricket is at present. I mean honestly, would Australia ever pick a bloke who had spent his whole life in some other country and then has one season playing Shield cricket...come on.
ii) How anyone can sell their soul to play for another country. I mean let's face it, this bloke is Australian. He's 29yo and been here for the past 23. He's obviously given up hope to play for Australia. Not unlike people in other sports who desert their country to go and represent someone else. They put representing their country far down on the list of priorities. Nothing irritates me more.

You could count the number of blokes who have done similar on many hands see; Adam Hollioake, Ben Hollioake, Geraint Jones, Martin McCague, Craig White, Allan Mullally, Andy Caddick, etc, etc.

stalbans know that that they are no certainty to get into the gca, although they are a massive chance! and i will give you the tip, with the side they have there wont be any hard yards in div3.

Good on St Albans for giving it a go and they will have the support of many around the comp. We have heard about how good their bowling stocks are but at the end of the day it is your batsmen that win GCA cricket. Who are their bats?

And, excuse me for being a tad sarcastic but come time to enter the GCA, I would have thought it would be time for Murray to front up with another club. Making it around 10 he has been to in the GCA. Is this right; St Peters, Bell Park, AT, Corio, Newcomb, Bannockburn, AT again, Newcomb again, St Albans. Plus I think there might have been an attempt to join Marshall as well. May also have been at Geelong City? Might be wrong with that last one.

we are a bit light on at times but we have some top class bats as well in: Sean O'leary he's just all class, Shane Cutajar he has won player of the year awards in BPCA Rob Cutajar attacking left hander we have some players more than capable of making the div2 standard Rory Fitzgerald who opened at guild for years, johnny irvine is very cappable luke bennett has made the grade at div1 level with NDCC also there is Nik Mallyon Ciurak who came over from south aust for footy this year is also a good bat he represented s.a at u/17 level we also have a good depth of juniors and don't forget murray can hold the bat as good as any have a look at he's A.T batting average in div2 2 years ago well over a 100

lets hope murray is keen finish up with us then, he's happy with st albans there isn't alot of pressure thrown on him he's happy and relaxed

Any news/thoughts on the Lara Skipper Chris Bambury?

Exceptional bat; ex-Vic Country captain. Has a shocking reputation on the field in Geelong though; re: behaviour. All agreed?

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Plenty of average cricketers with plenty of trap in the GCA! Good cricketer though!
